Just because he published an unsubstantiated claim, doesn't mean he is allowed to do so. Do you think publishers fact check every claim before print? No, they don't. Journalistic integrity is supposed to guide a writer to stick to fact and reporting. Not come up with their own made up beliefs on how someone else feels.

In fairness to Joecool and even Rossi, I feel that article is fairly easy to decipher. It's pretty clear where he's using opinion and where he's using his "sources". Here's my problem... Who's his sources? If a reporter such as Molinari writes something like that, I'm taking it to the bank his sources are rock solid. A guy like Rossi burned the credibility bridge a long time ago. That's why I'm pretty dubious about the boldest claims in the piece.

The defined roles seem to be if it's a beat writer, it's mostly facts, if it's a columnist, they'll throw in speculation behind unknown sources that gets people talking.

Other than Yohe, I don't really trust any of the Pittsburgh media. They're either too new, or have proven they'll stretch the truth.
