So Myers has played very well last year and so far in rookie camp, but he's 45 behind 3 players? - Hextall271
I agree I thought that seemed low and maybe Ratcliffe a bit high. The one that jumped out at me was Cole Caufield at #6. If so the Habs got a great deal. I was actually glad the Flyers passed on him for York. But a ranking that high makes me question the whole list |

Ah Ok. What a tough call that is. |

Anyone else us Hulu Live for TV?
For some reason the game wouldn't stream last night. I wondered if it was because of my proximity to Lehigh Valley? I mean I get all the NBC Sports channels and never have issues with regular season games.

Maybe Caufield ends up being a Danny Briere, but even if he does, in today's NHL, solid young two way dmen are worth their weight in gold, and more than other positions. If you truly do have an abundance of them, you can trade them for a ton, cause they're always one of the hardest pieces to fill in a team's roster puzzle. Look at the Leafs for example. Some good young players on D, but proper depth on the back end is holding them back. I can understand the pick. |

The opposite extreme positions are what should've been taken back in May and June as a negotiation tactic. They should be near middle ground at this point. Werenski and his agent found it. The player has the authority to move the agent from that opposite extreme position. - MJL
Running out the clock is a viable strategy for both sides. It could still end up coming together really quickly. No reason to panic. TK doesn't have that much leverage, and the Flyers can't afford to have him miss time. |

If I was Provorov, based on Werenski's deal, I'd be looking for a similar bridge deal. - MJL

That respect is for everyone on the board. Not just from supeschenn but from you as well to other members. You can't preach to someone to show respect while disrespecting him. That is called hypocrisy.

Newport Sports as a vested interest in maximizing their commission. Part of their job is selling their clients on their maximum theoretical worth, based on comparables, trends, etc.
Most players just want to play hockey and get paid fairly. Most impasses are due to agents and team execs taking opposite extreme positions. - Tomahawk
I think the point in the end is that Konecny is in no position to have an extreme position.

It’s curious, because I though Fletcher had said a month or so ago that he wasn’t as concerned. So something must have changed. Isn’t Newport comparable to the hockey version of Scott Boras? |

Extreme as in on the edges of the gamut of possible outcomes, not as in he's asking for the Auston Matthews contract.

Of course not. That would just be career suicide. Which IMO he is committing right now if he thinks he is worth anything over 5 aav
My guess is that the flyers see him as a bridge 3.5 type of guy and Konecny wants closer to 6.
Hopefully they come in at 4.5 where most of us have been predicting all along.

Just wait till we start discussing whether Couturier should be the 3C behind Hayes and Patrick. - Feanor
In all seriousness though...
Couturier is arguably the best 2 way center in the game according to The Athletic. And they made a pretty good case that he is.
We as a fanbase need to start recognizing what a special player he actually is.

Calgary re-signed Stone at $700,000 after buying him out.
So it's possible that the Flyers will bring back MacDonald. He could play in the top 4 if Provy holds out. |

Its weird that Pronman always calls out Frost for his speed. The guy who has won fastest skater competitions both and without the puck.

My hunch is that the team wants to lock him into a Coots/Ghost/Simmonds kind of long term deal. TK probably wants a shorter bridge, since he's likely to hit 30+ goals soon, and that will likely translate into boo koo bucks. |
