as it stands, sitting out a month gets him less $$ - senstroll
Not necessarily, not if he does what Nylander did and gets a large signing bonus. |

People think hes doing what willie did. Dont know the facts yet. - Fakepartofme
What we do know is that Marner doesn't want to go more than 3-5 years with the Leafs.
We know that Nylander wanted a guarantee that he wouldn't be traded and wanted a longer term deal.
So, there is a difference. |

Bob says he turned down 7 and 8 year deals at $11 million per, AND has turned down 3 year deals with lower AAV.
Who the hell is advising this kid? How can he possibly think he's worth more than that? |

i think if nothing is close then they need to explore trading him soon.
The Leafs are looking to win a cup now, so they need to see what they can get if he is going to sit - senstroll
On point. It's time to, at least, know your options.
I don't blame MM for taking his position but there's a point at which KD has to determine that it's in the best interest of the Leafs chances to win to move on. |

Agreed. Bob, Chris Johnston, Friedman all saying the same stuff.. Marner looks like a punk in all of this, not his dad, not his agent, him.

If those end up being true, it wont sit well with me.
I heard today his camp turned down 3 x 10 per.
Thats a stupid number for such a short term. |

We do know that about Marner, there are far too many reports out there for all of them to be untrue. There was even that report that the Blue Jackets offered Marner a 7 yr offer sheet and he turned that down. |

lol Mitch Marner actually doing the thing people thought Nylander was doing. - BINGO!
Yeah. You just had to know that Marner's would be the worse negotiation. Nylander just wanted term and to help the Leafs out cap wise in future years. Team first guy. Marner, on the other hand is all about Marner. |

Yeah, I heard that too, they offered him 3/30M but $10m per season.
Rejected it, because he wants to make 12-15M in salary on the last year of the deal. |

Yep. Gotta remember too that that number involved a salary of $15 million in his fianl year, which would mean his qualifying offer when that 3 year deal ended would have had to have been AT LEAST $15 million.
EDIT: I misread. that $15 million final season structure is what he was asking for, not what they were offering. |

Occam's Razor.
Media sees the vitriol that Marner is receiving, sees how it's escalating this week closer to camp, adds in additional details they just 'happened' to have learned this same critical week that will add to that.
'Look how much he declined! Look at the previous reparations he is demanding!'
This is not insanely convenient at all! |

Marner's dad, Darren Dreger was saying that he wants the 3rd year at 12-15M. |

Dreger's report says "as much as 12 milly in the final year" ....there are clearly a bunch of conflicting reports this morning.
That just tells me the final push is being made by both sides to put pressure on each other.
