Everything you wrote down they were doing. Fixing the goalies , the D the forwards. Sometimes it takes longer than three years. - VANTEL
Scoring definitely, can't argue with that. As for the rest like goaltending and defense... not so sure but we will see.
Sometimes it takes more than 50 years. |

Why do I have to pick a side? Why does it have to be all or nothing? You can be loyal to the twins without making them central to the team going forward.
So what your saying is, if you don't build the team around them, they must be traded. I don't get that. - bloatedmosquito
They absolutely don't have to be traded but is seems a little silly to hear complaining about things taking too long and not enough high picks when keeping them extends the mediocrity that started the whole topic a few weeks ago .
By trading them earlier Canucks could have picked up two first round picks a few prospects and probably a roster player or two . Instead 2012 -2014 kept them at the stale middle of the pack even though head coach Torts said this team definitely need a tear down.

No. Keeping them did not extend the mediocrity of this team. Continuing to build around them during their decline extended the mediocrity of this team.
The canucks are still dealing with the repercussions of that terrible decision today. |

You have your opinion I have mine . I think finishing dead last from 2013 to 2015 we would have had McDavid or McKinnon or another top player when draft odds were much better for people finishing in the bottom |

All the obvious difficulties of trying to trade them could have been avoided by not re-signing them to begin with. They would have become Leafs.

The Canucks hired Phil Golding for a scouting position. He leaves the Guelph Storm after 12 years.

It’s a moot point. They had NMC and didnt want to leave, it’s pretty simple. Shouldnt be talked about for years when it’s literally the most basic of scenarios. Player has option to stay, chooses to stay. It’s right up there with “Me Tarzan, you Jane” |

True, but I don't think you need to start at the twins in a teardown/rebuild. Saying that, you don't (frank)ing start rebuilding around them either! And that's what I complained about. Management went in the completely wrong direction.
There were lots of areas that a rebuild could have focused on; goaltending, defence, secondary scoring, new 1st line, all the off ice stuff, etc., etc.
Their salaries weren't killing the cap but their play had diminished. I advocated keeping the twins but finding a lesser role for them on the roster until it was time to hang them up.
In the last 5 years, management has (frank)ed up a lot, one of the biggest (frank) ups was how they handled the obvious decline and eventual retirement of the twins. - bloatedmosquito

He’d look good in Philly Green
Seattle should be going after him hard, their offense would go to a whole new level |
