In all seriousness, most people in the hockey world took Ristolainen's comments as wanting out of Buffalo, and it sounds like Jack Eichel took it that way as well. It sounds like he is saying that if he doesn't want to be here, they don't want him here either.

I'd like the opening fight to be Cole Caufield vs Holden Caufield.

Eichel on Ristolainen: "I'm not Risto. I'm not Jason, doing Jason's job. If he's in the locker room at camp, part of the team, I think you go about business normally. You want him to be completely bought in and want to be there but I guess we'll see what happens the next week."

Yowza. Thats a little much. Eichel is treating him like a guy he never met. Must not be a fan of each other.

Literally the same AAV he had with the Leafs. This feels odd.

Supposedly this opens up the flood gates though.

Enough said. This is what comes out of buffal sabres and Buffalo Bills fans. Ted Nolan was a moron.he didn't watch film, didn't have a sysTem,was as bright as two watt light bulb. I love freedom of speech, but not when idiotic, senseless spewing comes out,95% of fans who have no clue about sports, that's why regier(no high school education) Nolan , Rex and Rob Ryan's get jobs. They are part of the 95% who have no clue but get jobs because there isn't enough smart people

What he's not a fan of is him sounding like he doesn't want to be there. This is how a captain should feel. If you don't want to be here, good riddance.

“We still need to get tighter, play better and hold each other more accountable,” Ristolainen said.

Ristolainen further explained that last remark by offering an answer reminiscent of Housley’s comments in February, when the coach called the team “soft.”

“I think winning, it’s tough,” Ristolainen said, “and maybe I would like to see sometimes in practice or in the room, when you guys don’t see guys going after each other, you know… It’s not easy to win here. Everyone in the room should be hard on each other.”

Ristolainen: Maybe we need to mother f**ker each other a little more....be harder on each other.

Maybe, Risto sees that there is no accountability in the locker room. Too many players either not trying hard enough or not accepting responsibility. A lot of this is reminiscent of what ROR said.

Was ROR the problem? Is Risto the problem? Or too many prima donnas who think they know everything and just do their own thing.

"Anyone who follows the team knows that his leadership and work ethic are more valuable than what he does on the ice for the twenty-plus minutes he skates during a game. O’Reilly is that “First guy on, last guy off the ice” type of player who pushes everyone on the Sabres to work harder and practice longer, and smarter."

This team made him "Lose his love"

First ROR and now Risto. This team and fanbase just keep trying to run good players, who are tired of losing, out of town.

what exactly is my best?

I can't take anything that's Sabres-associated seriously until I see an actual product on the ice. Not horribly contrasted and damp looking uniforms and a bunch of undisciplined idiots, but a well-dressed and entertaining game and an atmosphere that doesn't drag with paper fans and drunk morons who don't know how to root for a team whether it's losing or not. Obviously the losing has a lot to do with it but I don't like how a miserable on-ice attitude has been allowed to drag on this entire time.

Ted Nolan wouldn't have been such a bad last few years and we still would have finished last. For a guy who loves his "Sabres Alumni", Terry Pegula sure has run through quite a few of them since he's bought the team.

It's no excuse for lazy management this last several years, in any case. The marketing is stale, the presentation is old, the tone is flat and the environment is empty of any kind of emotion. It's all just a ho-hum attitude from the top down, and the fanbase isn't free of this criticism, either. The players live like the populace does in Buffalo.

Criticize Jack and Sam for supposedly being drinkers who stay up until the sun comes up on game days and still show up to work, yeah, how dare they. They aren't Jim-Kellying around town or driving into buildings and literally every single player ever does that when they're young and grinding the schedule.

I do see them go through the motions but I do NOT see them mope. I have seen a few players mope and be invisible leaders in a confused locker-room that's clearly hostile because they don't have a healthy work environment.

It's still a (frank)ing poop-show and until it actually appears as a consistent and entertaining on-ice product, then there's no point in repeating the same things Ad nauseam and taking blog discussion so seriously that it interferes with your everyday life.

ROR was good

Risto is not

There is a big difference

You can be right about the prima donnas in the locker room, but truth be told Risto just isn't a top pairing defensemen and is an average 2nd pairing guy who puts up PP points
