Murray backed out of his commitment and won't be joining a college hockey program. According to assistant general manager Randy Sexton, Murray has an opportunity to earn a contract with Rochester if he performs well at the Prospects Challenge.

"We were crystal clear with Brett coming into development camp that it was going be a great opportunity for him to show us how committed he was to hockey," Sexton said. "He did a very good job. He had a very good development camp. His test results were very good. His conditioning was very good. Significantly improved from what we’ve seen in the past. That was step number one.

"After camp we were clear with him the next step is to come to rookie tournament, have a good tournament. If you have a good tournament, that could very well translate to an invitation to Rochester’s camp. ... For him, it’s a chance to earn a contract by having a good tournament."

He looked good at rookie camp. Dude is enormous! Pulling for him to make Roch for sure. He's a prototypical GMTM "heavy" which may never transfer to the NHL level, but good luck to him

My few observations:

Cozens is more NHL ready than jack Hughes. Hughes always dominates his peers but when he goes up in age always struggles big time. Tonight he struggled big time. You can see Hughes skill his body just isn’t ready. Hughes was throwing blind backhand passes in the o zone to literally no one. Did that with USA and caulfield would be wide open

(Yes I obviously know Hughes will be ultimately better than cozens)

I think cozens competes for a spot and get his 9 games. His skating and speed are a notch above everyone else and he’s a big dude.

Asplund joker olofsson shouldn’t be playing. They are just too good and beyond this level of hockey
