Tampa Bay is by far the best team built in the salary cap era. TML are so over-rated, they will be a wild card team next season.

how is a team that got swept in the 1st round 'by far the best team'?
there are a few good teams that won championships and stuff. I'd say 2010 hawks are right up there

Because judging a team that's gone 116-39-9 over the past two years on a stretch of 4 games is a bit silly.

The guy said they're the "best team in the cap era".
So that means better than the 14 teams that won the Cup. Ridiculous statement

the sad part is Anderson isnt even a bad choice. he def could be a frontrunner

but because Tanner has to answer every question with a Leafs player and then says dumb stuff like "best team ever assembled in the salary cap era" it makes me want to not agree with him

It depends how bad October Freddy is. Also if he plays 60+ games too. He's been running out of gas the past couple seasons.

Depends on how you want to measure it, I guess.

If we're going with just last season's team, then yeah, but if we're talking overall points since 2005 then San Jose runs away with it and Tampa isn't even top 10.

No it isnt. The cup is won based on a 16 wins. Plenty of teams go on hot runs at the right time to win the cup, that doesnt make them the best team. Tampa has proven itself to be the top team in the NHL last season because they won the most games in an 82 game stretch. The point of the NHL playoffs is not so the best team wins every year. Whats the point of watching when you know who is going to win? NHL playoffs are the best in sports because even a Wildcard team can win the cup. It is a whole new season come playoffs.

Bottom line is Tampa isn't the best if they can't get their poop together when it's elimination time.

Same reason it's funny how much Leaf fans are so sure they are a contender when they haven't surpaced what the Dion, Phil, Reimer team did.

If that is the criteria that makes the 2010 Flyers the 2nd best team in the league that year...

We all know that isnt true. That team was 1 point away from missing the playoffs. Tampa is the best team. They went into a slump near the end of the season, it is that simple. Columbus was not push over either, they were a strong team for a WC team. Their additions at the Deadline paid off in that series.

There have been a few outliers, more now that there are too many teams and it's watered down, but generally the best team wins the cup. It's always thrilling to watch the powerhouse get challenged for the throne like what happens in the NBA or even NFL. Having the playoffs as a total crap shoot is actually not very interesting at all.

Yes it is way more interesting watching the same 3 teams win over and over again.....

When you look at the roster you know damn well they can 'contend' for the cup. Don't kid yourself.

Doesn't mean they will win it ffs..

You guys are all playing into his hands by coming into the comments and saying "Tanner this...." and "Tanner that....". It keeps people thinking about him and that's what he wants.

Just ignore it. There's no one that's more sick of it than Leaf fans. He's the worst kind of troll. He's Hockeybuzz's less talented (if this is even possible) version of Steve Simmons.

When LA came back against the Oilers it was one of the greatest stories and amazing games/series ever. And they don't win all the time, just most. It was cool to see the Pats win, but also cool when they lost. It was cool to see Golden State build one of the best teams of all time, but cool to see the Raps win.

Watching two completely equal teams play is an utter bore. Imagine how interesting betting would have been on that Oilers/LA series lol.

I look at their roster and still see the third best team in their division.

As long as you also see them as the third best team in the Conference, than I don't think you're wrong.
