For those of you not in the buffalo region who want to try to catch the games this weekend this is a pretty informative article:

https://www.techjunkie.co...e-location-google-chrome/

I've never tried the Reddit thing before so I can't speak to that but it looks like a free trial of Express VPN is a fool proof way to stream the games for out-of-towners like myself. I think I am going to give it a try this evening. Fingers crossed.

Hopefully, Express VPN has access to a server within the Buffalo viewing district.

I think you answered your own question. There is no prospective fan of hockey living in Tulsa who is going to spend his friday night watching Shaw Boomhower and the Sabres prospects.

You gotta be pretty hardcore to watch this stuff.

Preseason I agree. I cant believe that in 2019, we cant see every game. Wtf is that shi

Some dude in Tulsa might not want to watch it but some banana riding a cucumber in Fort Wayne Indiana wants to watch it. And now he has to figure out a link to watch it and that takes effort so now he may not because it’s not even pre season it’s a nothing burger game

More like "The cost to produce the game on television exceeds the revenue we will bring in from viewership". If the NHL teams made money by televising every game, they would do it. The fact is, they don't, even in Buffalo, where almost everybody watches.

But they already put the effort into putting the broadcast together and put it out there for locals. Then put the effort into blocking it to out of towners.

There you go!
The rest of the explanations are just marketing BS...which we should expect with the recent Hat fiasco.
There is no reasonable explanation to be had. Just useless trys at justifying a dumb rule.

HAHAHA! Hockey via Flip Book!

Isn't that how scouts in the Golisano era watched out of town games too? If it was good enough for them....

My post was responding to why all preseason games weren't televised, not the streams for the Prospects tournament.

I think the blackout rule is an NHL rule, which all the leagues implement. It may be archaic, but it's one the Sabres have to comply with. I do think, though, that the NFL lifting the rule where a game is blacked out in the home market if it's not sold out is a sign that these rules will slowly disappear. Technology has made these rules obsolete.
