Either a trade up or draft lottery results which places
Chicago with a first overall to tbird overall range should mean that Bowman selects a forward to play here for a long time. I feel that addition plus all the prospects already discussed on this board, ought to render a catchy phrase the White Sox used at least a decade or more ago ago:

The Kids are Alright

Lafraniere or a power forward - either is a fine
addition

I see Colorado being near the top, if not the top of our division. I'm leery of the goaltending situation as well, I don't think Grubworm is enough & idk about the back-up. Out of all of the teams we have looked at so far, Colorado is easily the biggest competition.

Not me, I’m not impressed with any of their lines past the 1st line. I don’t see any of their other line putting up more than 50-55 goals.

Good points Toews and Kane will/have slipped before and some day soon. Dinky is dinky. He gives no credit for retooled defense and adding an NHL goalie on paper better than any of the goalies he has beating out the Hawks. If they had a 3C, somebody like Artem Anisimov I would feel better...

I’m on UA at 1230 going ORD > DFW. You captaining my flight?

Kadri is a good addition for the Avs. The lil pest is the kinda guy you need in the playoffs....IF....can actually play and not get suspended.

Rantenan and MacInnon another year older and better.

This team will make noise. A Top 3 in the Division is my guess.

Side note: Any info on where on-line we might catch feeds of the Tourney????

Makar was a beast in playoffs. Not sure if he continues to play this way but if so - he is bona fide #1 and our team does not have anyone of that caliber. If Byram makes the team this will add to their defense. Grubauer is a question mark though. Roster wise younger faster and better than Hawks but we shall see how it translates to results. Think Nashville and Stars (if Bishop is healthy) will give them competition for top 3 spots in the division, followed by Blues.

Thanks, Tyler. Really good write up. Man, I had no idea COL offloaded so many bodies from last year. Team chemistry, like with the 'Hawks, could be a thing that takes at least a while to happen.

It is going to be asking a lot for 2 rookies, Makar and Byram, to anchor your defense. They also need some scoring depth beyond that top line. Kadri will definitely help and Grubauer still has some questions on being a true #1.

The Avs might be a year or two away.

I really wish the had the link to the live video or at very least had ANY link to the tourney on their NHL page.

I am figuring to watch live because other years I always ran into problems when trying to watch it delayed...

IIRC, the Hawks had a link on their homepage last season to view the games. The Red Wings usually do because they are the "host" of the tourney

It is asking a lot to expect Byram to know how to play defense.

They can keep him on the parent club if he plays forward or rover, but Gus looks like Doung Harvey or Brad Park next to him....

Tyler another great piece you posted with lots of detail.

Colorado looks to be in a great place with lots of young talented pieces up and down the line up, and to top it off they have managed to do a excellent job in creating plenty of cap space and truly building a young talented roster and farm system .

The few unknowns with Colorado is the young inexperience on their backend , and can Gruber rise to that next level.

I like how they overhauled and created a nice second line , can kadri keep his emotions in check in a positive way that doesn't get him into hot water via suspension.

Also is their enough leadership on this young team to lean on in order to propel themselves for a great season but cup run ?

Overall they should be a fun young dynamic team for years to come.

Blackhawks went from last to first with a rookie defense man Keith Magnuson.

And a rookie Cliff Koroll and essentially a rookie goalkeeper in Tony Esposito (13 NHL games prior).

Makar was insane in the playoffs. Just incredible. CO is absolutely stocked with elite players on ELC and/or cheap contracts for the next 2 seasons. 21-22 will get a little tricky, but they are still in pretty good position.

Rantanen will be the only guy on their roster over $7m when he signs. (!!!) And they only have 1 other player making over $6m.

Cap wise, I think they have the best roster in hockey for the next several seasons - can anyone find one better?

If Grubs is a beast, I think CO is fighting for the top of the charts. I don't get the Dallas love (esp when Bishop misses 30 games) - I can see CO ahead of them.

CO is going to be one of the better teams for several seasons. I look forward to the battles.

The FoxSportsGO app will be streaming all the games. After you load the app to your phone or tablet, you may have to login using your cable or satellite account info.

The STL team site will be streaming their own games. Hopefully the Hawks site will also.

They started the year losing I think the first 5 games. My dad had season tickets, used to go to all the Sunday games. I remember the last game of the regular season when Montreal needed I a win or I think 5 goals in order to get into the playoffs. The one eyed frenchman coach Claude Ruel after the Hawks went up 5-2 pulled the goalie early in the third period, and the Hawks scored like 5 empty net goals. Went to Detroit that year to see the Hawks play Detroit in the first round.
