So the ELC is irrelevant?
- Feanor

No, a rookie on a ELC can still attend Rookie camp. A non-rookie wouldn’t. And a player who is signed beyond their ELC wouldn’t attend.

Is there some confusion here regarding a particular player? Bill addressed several situations in this blog.

No question that prospects have to prove their worth. Just a note on Colorado though, there is no reason to expect them not to be a great team, but they have fooled us a couple times before. Both the Roy coaching debut season and one of the early Duchense years, they were poised to break out after a playoff year only to slip back into mediocrity. I'm always sort of skeptical towards them because of this. On paper they should easily be a 100 pt team.

One thing I feel both out franchises did well was to arm a lot of bullets in the chamber. For the Flyers for example, you could argue that the overall sentiment of the defensive guys is that they haven't lived up to expectations so far. However, you had so many good level prospects, that despite that Provy, Ghost, and Sanheim is quite the foundation to build around. I know just by shear statistics, several of the Rangers prospects won't live up to their billing, but hopefully the quantity aspect masks that.

That's not correct. He piled up the points in the preseason.
- bmeltzer

Thanks Bill. That sounds better. The V’s website must be in error because he is the only one listed with no stats for the pre season.

Glad to see Boosh get more air time on NBC. If P. Maguire will no longer be doing the on ice commentary for NBC, then who is going to kiss Cindy Crybaby's butt all game long??

He'll still be doing games, just not on the #1 broadcast team. People need to check their excitement.

Well it wouldn't definitely improve the powerplay. Even if Laine wasn't used on the Flyers PP.

I don't think Bouch is very good to be honest, quite boring and emphasizes goalies too much, don't want to hear about goalies, we get it you were one. The whole broadcast needs a facelift.

A 26 year old on an AHL deal, not an ELC, is attending rookie camp despite being too old to qualify as a rookie under the Calder Trophy rules, which is what I'm assume you're using to label Myers as a rookie this year and Lindblom as a rookie last year when they played just a few regular season games under the 25 game mark.

Yeah, their site must not be updated. He did miss the 1st preseason game but I believe he played in the rest. I watched 3 games (skipped to his shifts) on Hockeytv. I think he had like 7 or 8 points in the 3 games I watched but he didn't dominate like those numers suggest. I was impressed but it also appeared he has some work to do. You could definitely see the skill (other teams will need to key on him) but he also made some questionable plays that I'd expect of a younger player on that level (just holding the puck too long at times but the coach could have encouraged him to play like that to build his confidence back up). Anyway just preseason BCHL hockey on a new team. It will be interesting to see how he does in the regular season once he is acclimated. So far so good. I'm hoping he tears up that league and grows his all around game so we can look forward to a big year at BU.

No sure why we should be concerned about a player on another team but no I don't have concerns about it. If you can score, you can score. He just has to adjust to how teams are defending him.

He is an invitee to fill out the roster. I thought we were discussing prospects who the Flyers drafted or signed to an ELC (i.e. Patrick, Morin, Myers, Lindblom). I don’t know what the rules are for invitees. Probably may invite whomever.

Edit: There is some conflicting information on different websites regarding the Calder eligibility rules. I think this below is correct. Not that it matters but Fitzgerald is 26 so still qualifies.

i've seen you say this before. i disagree. maybe he does emphasize goalies too much, but i never really noticed it, so i don't think it's too over the top. i like him. and if it's him vs pierre, i'll take boosh all day.

I agree. I’m biased though because I like listening to the goalie stuff. Speaking of which...this mask is 🔥
