I like the idea Marner is worth more than Hall just b/c he is younger. Typical Leafs fan... Hall for marner + 1st makes a lot more sense. He'd fit well in our line up based on the need for him to play with a top center. Hall would elevate your team, Marner still has a fews years before he reaches taylors skill level, if ever. He'd line up well with our youth tho, so I'd do it if we got a prospect on top... - ShoresideDevil

"wit" means "with fried onions". If you just wanted provolone, you'd just say provolone. If you wanted provolone with fried onions you'd say "provolone wit". "wit provolone" would certainly get you tagged as a tourist. - atibus
damn (frank)ing straight.
throw some onions on there and we're close to a deal. |

Drouin and Weber for Marner and Rielly
Leafs get a really good winger on long term contract. What they lose up front they gain on defense. |

U know u wont get equal value, plus a team is gonna have to pay him. Just unfortunate on some trades may work out, unless its a 1-for-1 type trade |

The Leafs have ridiculous depth, Edmonton has none. Marner and William Nylander have both overstayed their welcome (there is no "I" in Team). The Oil are a mess and need a talent upgrade. I think everyone sees where I am going with this. Before I get lynched, let's remember 2 things - 1. McDavid will be asking for a trade in short order if/when inevitably Holland cannot fix the mess Chia left behind, and 2. Wayne Gretzky was traded in his prime. Toronto can provide a package that far exceeds the Gretzky haul, and, gives the Oil the multiple pieces they need to fix their mess. The trade is: Marner, Nylander, Adam Brooks, Semyon Der-Arguchintsev (2-C's to refill McD's spot) and Tim Liljegren (to fill Russell's spot), for McDavid and Kris Russell. Toronto can shelter Russell, Tavares would likely be the one that needs to move to the wing, but would get to play with either McD or AM. That is a lot to give up, but TO gets the by far best player in the trade and Connor would thrive in TO. - Wingdings
I like it, get it done... However...... Could swap Marner for Mathews, and end up with two hometown boys, and some dollars to get the marner deal done......
The kicker here is you need a team with the cap space for what Marner allegedly wants, who doesn't have big time RFAs to sign. I was thinking something with Konecny before I remembered Provorov needs a contract. A proper hockey trade might be Marner for Rantanen, only because *rumours* are Rantanen is allegedly asking for less than Marner, and he doesn't have a loser father jerking the reins.... but then you get into the issue where Rantanen is allegedly waiting to see what Marner signs for.
Simple fact is that if Marner wants Matthews money, looking at Capfriendly, there probably aren't any takers. The people with space are set to tank/poop the bed next season and don't want to add a talent that might end up netting them 10 extra points and a worse lottery shot. People suggesting Carolina are myopic - no way Dundon pays Marner 10+. The only real option is a younger player still on their ELC, and reset and hope for a more rational ask when ELC is up. MAYBE NJD would bite to try and keep Hall - so let's go Palmieri, Jesper Boqvist, and a 2nd next year. I think that's too much, Leafs fans would go ape saying 'not enough' - but you've got an ego fueled RFA who wants more than he's worth at his age, and I think that drops his value as a trade chip a bundle. - Bartacus
If only there was a ballsy enough GM on a team with good prospects, but needing to tank this year...If I am that GM, I make the trade, hold out, and bench Marner for the year to show him who is boss, AND still tank... |

they will definitely get value for him in a trade, 30 other teams in the league will want marner. |

Are the Jets very frustrated with Laine and Connor? Are the Lightning very frustrated with Point as well? Or they're ok and it's just the Leafs that are frustrated with Marner? - NewfieStud

Marner
Domi, one of Juulsen, Romanov or the d prospect of their desire, & a 1st round pick
Would make it a 2nd but that’ll never happen.
This gives the trade a possibility within the division I believe. |

To MIN: Mitch Marner, Timothy Liljegren, Frederick Gauthier
To TOR: Ryan Donato, Matt Dumba
Toronto gets a stud defensemen, decent young forward in Donato, some cap relief.
Min gets Marner, possible star defenseman, depth Center. |

Josh Brook would be interesting .... seems close to fair value imo.

Here's a crazy idea. How about a deal with marner for Hughes of New Jersey or kappo kakko of the rangers. It would be mitch+ for Hughes and I think kakko+ for marner. Or how about a deal for quin Hughes from Vancouver. |

Hope not
As a hab fan I realize both leafs or jets would rather wait then trade away their star talent. But we do have a name and talent both teams could sell to their team in a trade. Both fan bases love domi but a one for one would never happen for good reason. Domi one good season and two players with multiple great seasons. Both need d I believe and the pick would sweeten it to get them to accept.
Personally on habs side I’m not 100% sold and would have to know if our young guys would be ready to step up and play the #2 and #3 c positions good enough to be able to cover losing domi but offering up play trades is fun so here I am ☺️ |

I don't see a fit with Montreal at all on a Marner trade. - Aetherial
I don’t think Toronto wants Marner going anywhere and burning them for years to come. Especially Montreal. So much for the hometown kid. What a terrible deal he’s having hoisted on him. It’s possible the team can’t feed all these ego’s. Never mind afford them. |
