Incarcerated Bob isn’t a hack either. So there is actually some relevant truth to this.

My 50th anniversary Sabre’s Jersey came in the mail today from DH gate, looks identicle, has all the detail in the buffalo and everything. 30$
- 50missionCapp

Just got my Dahlin 50th from DH gate too today. Looks good. Still not sure I love it, but whatever, it’s $26.

Still waiting on my Josh Allen that usps routed to Pittsburgh after being in Rochester, hope I get by Saturday.

Which was the confusing part, because you criticized me for saying Kucherov was unlucky, and said regardless of luck the “results are the only thing that matters”

So which lane are you picking?

- OneKaneOneCup

No, I agreed he was unlucky. I probably should've been more clear on that. But also something I should've been clearer on was that "scoring chances" is a nebulous stat and are not very well defined on top of it. I went off on a tangent about the ratings for scoring chances.

http://blog.war-on-ice.co...coring-chances/index.html

"These definitions are flexible but we feel they’re a reasonable starting point given all the data we have available. We’re open to changing it if we have sufficient numerical evidence."

And there, to me, is the rub. Luck plays such a factor that it's really hard to tell. Luck is something only obvious in hindsight, and not really applicable in real-time. When teams have 40 scoring chances total in a game where there are only 6 goals that's not a terribly accurate indicator of how well a team played. It just means that you got a slightly above average shot on goal.

I picked a random Sabres game. I just scrolled down naturalstattrick and picked a game without looking at the opponent or the score. A 4-3 SO loss to the caps. 49 total scoring chances, 31 by the Caps and 18 by the Sabres. 6 total on-ice goals. And if you look at high danger it's 10-5 in favor of the Caps. Both teams scored 3 goals.

I remember the game in Arizona last year reading Tanner's blog on how the Coyotes "dominated", they got so many scoring chances and deserved to win despite the fact they were shutout because the stats said so, and they do, 13-9 HDCF and 59.57% CF% for Arizona, but to anyone who watched the game knew that was not the case. The Coyotes had a bunch of wide open shots that were easy saves for Ullmark, one of the easiest SOs he'll have. The thing is the Sabres scored a quick goal and then one before the end of the period, so the Coyotes were playing catch-up all game, it's not at all surprising that the Sabres would sit on the lead and let the Coyotes take a bunch of easy shots. That's what I mean when I say the stats need a ton of context to make them any kind of useful.

So it’s good but you don’t love it ? I’m not sure how to interpret this. Worth the $26 I guess ?

It’s great quality, just not sure I love the design and gold. Nothing wrong with it, totally worth the $26.

Waiting for the obligatory "all Laine does is scores goals. The Sabres can find that anywhere" comment.

Remember American Gladiators? And those were fit guys in their 20's and 30's and they got their asses kicked 95% of the time.

How do you think an infirm old (frank) would do against a 24 year old all-world athlete(I'm including every NHL player in "all-world athlete" BTW) in peak physical condition in any sort of physical challenge.

It's honestly the most stupendously moronical thing I've read on these boards ever.

The only stat I used was how much luck plays into the outcomes. And that conventional stats don't/are unable to factor luck into them, so yes, they're fundamentally flawed and mostly useless without a poopload of context. And I was illustrating how rating scoring chances based on zones is asinine.

You conveniently missed my postv in which I stated he would kick my arse.
But, you do you.

Saw rumor NYR were interested in Laine.

I would imagine it would be Kreisler ++ (need to move salary).

This board would implode! Laine is polarizing anyway, but NYR top 3 players would all be wingers! Lol

That buffalo rear end is quite fuzzy...

Love the inside collar, with the older Logos.

Centers and defensemen are more important then wingers. I’ll always stand by that statement. Eichel, Dahlin, Hutton/Ullmark and Mittelstadt will dictate how our season goes this year. There are very few wingers that can drive a line with a strong 200ft game. Skinner can score 60 this year but it won’t matter unless we have good goaltending, strong defense corps, and depth down the middle.

Jaden Schwartz scored 11 goals in the regular season yet scored the Blues out of the first two rounds of the playoffs. Did anyone know who the frank Warren Foegele was before the playoffs started this year ? He had 25 points in the regular season.

Got my 50th season jersey and it is beautiful!

Did anyone hear what the rumor was that Biron and Rivet mentioned the other day about Risto?

Thanks!

Yeah they would need to move a lot of salary. That would be insane to think about. Long term contract wise they would be in major trouble

Not that I'm banking on this, but Ruotsalainen is a guy they seem to think highly of. If he catches lightning in a bottle (big if, I know), the #3 center issue could be less of a concern.

I’m sure Tage Thompson will have no trouble driving his line from the wing.
