Does Provy show up to Camp without a contract in place?

Of course he is. It would be insane to even think he wouldn't be preparing just like any other season.

Players are in charge. They can easily say sign a deal and the agents have no choice.

The players only have final say, the agent does the majority of the value determination, negotiation, and selling the value to the team. You better believe they have their motives. If the player could determine his own value he could save himself 10% and a lot of drama.

If the agents are looking out for their future (and the players are only a means to an end for the agent) they will do everything they can to get the cap raised or removed.
It is in the best interest of the agents to break that cap on as many teams as possible...

Any agent looking to "break that cap" is wasting their time. Agents aren't focused on the cap when negotiating for an RFA. They're focused on getting the best possible deal they can for their client.

Have to wonder how many of the 10-15 prized RFAs wont be reporting to camp in a week and a half. An unprecedented number I would guess.

I find it to be ridiculous actually. Negotiate in good faith and come to a reasonable agreement between two parties. Shouldn't be this difficult.

Agreed. Way too much focus is on comparables rather than each player individually.

We sometimes forget that these are basically kids. They have adults in their ears telling them this and that. Every single one of these adults, save maybe their family, sees nothing but $$$.

If the agents are looking further out than the next deal, they are certainly looking to raise or break the cap. Anyone that's even halfway committed to their work is thinking about the future of their industry. These aren't soccer player agents here...

Have we at all talked about realistic expectations by the team and individual players this summer? Looking at the team’s stats, I would argue only three players met their quota this past season. Giroux, Couturier and Konecny. I suppose you could add Sanheim to that argument but I’m not sure we’ve seen his ceiling yet.

-Jake Voracek, 66 point, not good enough.
-Ivan Provorov, 26 point, major step back from his 30 point rookie season, followed by his 41 sophomore season.
-Shayne Gostisbehere, 37 points, amazing enough is his worst of his career. In my opinion 37 point isn’t so bad. It’s being a minus 20 player every other season that concerns me.

So my question is, what is your realistic expectations of this team in a tough division? What do you expect from JvR in his second season back and what do you think Hayes should do?

I haven’t brought up Nolan Patrick because he’s stayed idle. He hasn’t gone up or down, which is really what makes this season so important. Oskar Lindblom is also a player who looks primed to score 20.

Thoughts.
