Also, I’d stay away from Tanner if you want to maintain your reputation in the fast food sector. Since ‘09 he’s been publishing a monthly column in an industry periodical. His journalistic impartiality is questionable at best. The most recent example being a lengthy piece about the McChicken in which reportedly asserted it is better than both the BK Original Chicken and Wendy’s Spicy Chicken.

It is simply that you have "reported" on these RFAs all summer long and you have been consistently wrong. All the fictitious deadlines you "reported" have passed and I can tell you that GMs don't waste their time on players they know will not be traded. You are just a leech, trying to suck a living off a sport you really have no idea about.

I'm focused on the impending RFA war. I'm hearing the Leafs are focused on signing Kyle Wellwood to a PTO to scare Mitch Marner who's very focused waiting to see what happens on Bachelor in Paradise. His Rogers plan expired on July 31st. He's focused on watching tv with Auston Matthews today.

Wellwood is currently focused on eating at 3 Chinese buffets today and challenging Joey Chesnut and Phil Kessel to a hot dog eating contest. You won't hear this publicly. This is not ok. You should not focus on eating hot dogs when a young David Poile is running around the Spectrum. He lacks focus. Maybe that's why he gave away PK Subban for table scraps.

Proorov is threatening to play in the Shire with his good buddy Bilbo Baggins who's focused on stealing Colton Parayko's Stanley Cup ring. There's so many RFAs. It's very hard to focus. The Flyers are taking a no BS attitude. The Leafs aren't screwing around. Both teams are very focused.

Something has to give soon. GMs have really amped up their focus after staring at each other at their cottages in Muskoka for the past 2 months. Killer offer sheets and focused bedlam will be the end of the NHL as we know it. The RFA war to end all RFA wars is the focus right now. God help us all. Even the Candiens who are currently focused in the St. Lawrence River doing cannon balls trying to make a BIG SPLASH.

And then there's the always focused Lord of the Wings Steve Yzerman who's incredibly focused on being focused. He's still focused trying to get Point signed in Tampa with his Jedi like focus because that's how Yzerman and the Lightning do business. Yzerman is also focused on making the Red Wings relevant again. It'll take at least 3-4 years of focusing to make this happen. More focus to come fro sure...

There is still no real progress at this point, but according to my sources the calls regarding interest in trading for Mitch have increased greatly in the past few days.

Ek is following up on his 3 different sources saying Puljijarvi for Kreider is imminent.

One of those sources is tied up on McAvoy's imminent bridge deal.

Another source is tied up on the Buffalo-Detroit 5-player mega-deal.

Another source is trying to confirm whether Yzerman is working out of the Tampa office or Detroit office today.

So everything is on hold for now. Prepare for an update later today on something random that has nothing at all to do with anything mentioned in the last few weeks. Like maybe a random RFA like Julius Honka, Marcus Pettersson, or maybe the Brock Boeser news that's already a week old.

I’m not sure if this is sarcasm or a serious question.

You don’t sign him to a killer 1 year $14M deal because it will kill your team and your (GM’s) career. After that year Marner will be a RFA with arbitration rights + his minimum qualifying offer begins at $14M. Basically that GM would give the leafs a bunch of picks and have have to let Marner walk at the end of the year because his new cap hit would make his team even worse
