Tkachuk is the first to sign? What happened to the McAvoy bridge deal since he apparently hates the business side of things and just wants to play hockey? Also, why trade for Marner when you can just do a killer 1-year $14M offer sheet?

Because they’d still have to give up 4 first rounders and qualify him next year at over $14 million, he’s not worth that. If someone offered him at one year $14 the leafs would take the 4 first rounders and be happy I’m sure.

I think the best course of action would be for Dubas to sign a PTO in an attempt to scare Marner into signing. It would get the ball rolling for all the other RFAs to sign

They should consider Bergevin for a PTO, that guy is ripped. As we've seen with Yzerman, it's not hard to balance two jobs in this league. I'm sure he could play for the Leafs while also being the GM of the Canadiens

GMs are focused more than ever. RFA war is fast approaching. Bedlam is about to break out. Leafs aren't screwing around. Flyers are taking a no BS attitude. Marner didn't sign on July 31st and that is not OK. Proorov talks are going nowhere. The Candiens are still trying to make a big splash. Yzerman is getting tired of being the GM of 2 hockey teams. Killer offer sheets are coming. RFAs are scared to death of PTOs. More to come for sure...

Poile has been cast for Benjamin Button 2. Filming starts now and wraps up in 1972. Release date is 1971. By the 1950s it will be considered a classic and part of pop culture.

Let me add another wrinkle:

Leafs trade him to the Coyotes for 3 1st round picks.

They then offer-sheet him at 8 years X $10.5 million.

Coyotes can't match the offer, since Marner was not on their roster at the 2019 trade deadline (it's an 8-year contract).

So the Leafs have to send them 2 1sts, a 2nd and a 3rd as compensation.

I am so much looking forward to Woodstock! I am sure I will see Ek there, since he was the one who organized the whole thing.
