Andrew Luck retiring. Giving his team notice right before the start of the season. Can you imagine if a starting QB pulled this in Philly?
- hereticpride

He is pulling a Barry Sanders on them. That team is (frank)ed.

Yikes. He had a pretty decent bounce back year last year too.

Barry Sanders’ situation was completely different. He asked them to improve the team and get him some support. Management didn’t want to spend the money. It pre salary cap NFL. Other teams were spending, the Lions weren’t. He gave them advance notice, if the team didn’t improve, he was walking away. He was humble, honorable human being, and one of my favorite players of all time. Followed him his whole career.

Best was Jim Brown, then... and arguably still... the greatest NFL running back--and some might even argue best player--If what I heard was true, he was filming a movie that ran into the Cleveland Browns Training Camp... He called to say he would be a little late... they said, 'no, you come on time or don't bother' (paraphrased)... He said. I quit, and left in his prime as greatest NFL back, with many more Stats left on the table. Jim Brown was always a man of his convictions... in many areas... he then spent his time, I believe, in the Rights Movement.

Injuries plagued his career and he spent most of it under a bad coach, Chuck Pagano. 68% career passing and 4 pro bowls. Not a bust but never fulfilled his potential IMO.

Can’t disagree, although I hate comparing players in different era’s. Jim Brown had power and would run over you, Barry Sanders could stop on a dime, change directions, and give change at the same time. Both were one of a kind footballers!👍

I had nothing but admiration for Sanders... different type of Runners... and yes, completely different Eras with different type of RBs at the forefront. Brown was a beast... a talented beast. He didn't have the ability/agility Sanders had, but he never really needed them. Different Era, true, but Brown was dominant like I've never seen any other Offensive Player. Both Brown and Sanders were rare and great talent who had so much more to give but sadly walked away on top... leaving us wanting more... leaving us wondering what could have been... if........... Projecting them both out and who knows? Both awed me; Sanders with his moves and Brown with his domination and power. That they walked away is sad... how Brown walked away was needlessly insane. Sanders left due to stubborn cheap ownership... Brown walked away due to stupid stubbornness by ownership, and their cockiness... and his refusing to be bullied... and belief he had nothing more to prove, and no need to beef up his legacy. There are not many around ever like either of them... in any era. 👍

Not sure why the postings needed to get into football but certainly one difference between sanders and brown is that i am of unaware of barry sanders laying a hand on a woman...unlike jim brown who was a serially abuser of woman. So there’s that...

Not to get into his outside of NFL stuff much... but all allegations seem to have ended in acquittal or were dropped... except for a marital charge stemming from his taking to his wife's car in rage. While there were not many accusations or accounts, I'll admit one is too many. In any case, if there is any true concerns on that, it doesn't take away from his NFL accomplishments... nor the stinky way he was handled by the Cleveland Browns/his comparison to other backs, such as Sanders. Oh stop it. They are both leaving the team just before the season starts and the team had no chance to replace them or have any plan in place to do so. In that way, the situations are EXACTLY THE SAME.

Luck is also an honorable, humble person.

FWIW Luck is a QB... a position more vital in Today's NFL... and one harder to replace, especially at the end if Camp--although it has been done before with success--A RB at times has been the difference in winning a SB... but the QB slot is most crucial to lose... as and long-term/forever can set a franchise back painfully.

This by no means is to say anything bad about Luck's decision or Luck himself... only he knows what is right and proper in this case and can determine if stepping away is right; one life trumps an entire team in this case... with all due respect to Mr. Spock and Captain Kirk.

I'm excited to see Frost and Farabee in camp but most intruiged by Rubstov. Reading the tea leaves, I think he has the best chance of making it. Whether it's as a top 9 wing or 4th line C. Hopefully Vorobyev learned some lessons from his cup of coffee last year. I think hes also a prime candidate for the NHL roster along with NAK.

And OJ was found not guilty.

It’s difficult for some people to have a “sports only” conversation about a person who allegedly threw his girlfriend off a second story balcony...i could go on. Bottom line...jim brown is a pathetic human being.

Again OJ was found not guilty of a double homicide. Try striking up a “football only” conversation about him...see what reaction you get.

Fair enough... Question; do you feel OJ's NCAA and NFL accomplishments are any less do to any crime he may have skirted... Should his Football Career be erased?... That really is my point... and with no convictions standing in Browns case, any person's belief in his standing in Sports should surely not be challenged.

To go one step further... Pete Rose being kept from the Hall is a joke... His Careet and records were/are what they were/are.

With that; I believe I/we have hijacked this thread long enough.
