I do remember you and a few others saying you wouldn't take those two at 10

They got scooped up before 10 . Sorry NH had to play the I told you so card

That's why we need our 1st rounders. One of the only things to look forward to during the dog days. The mocks, discussion, debates leading up to the draft. No pick takes the vibe out of the draft.

I think one of the top scoring LW in history was told he couldn't skate either

And what if someone took him?
- VANTEL

At the time i could only see the Oilers doing so. Yes it would’ve been a risk so depends on how far down the 1st would’ve been. If was top 10-12 or higher Wings still had plenty if top talent to pick from. If Yzerman was hell bent on D it was either Broberg or Soderstrom who would be there imo

I think Broberg will be the better player but RHD have more value and are harder to acquire.

I’d be guessing & fairly confident to be right that Yzerman was exploring a trade down & was asking a ton. If he was targeting Seider was any team picking him as high as 6oa? I doubt it. Oilers at 8oa i saw as the team who might pick Seider unless Broberg they saw as their guy. Leaves the Ducks who i thought needed a C then us at 10oa.

...and where does OJ fit, how many starts does Demko get, will Woo make it out of camp, does Madden join the team,,,,

There will be plenty. The importance of the 2nd round selection will be front and centre and a way wider range of arguments than an obvious top 10 pick thats for sure.

Stanley the Steamer was RW.
Howie Meeker said he wouldn’t be an NHLer.

I was referring to Luc Robitaille, but for sure there are others, hands and brains can overcome lack of skating prowess .

OJ grooming to replace Edler on the top 4.
Hughes top pairing & Benn is bottom pairing LHD for the time being but can play RHD where he actually plays better. No logjam i foresee.

Markstrom is the guy looking for big money . I would trade him to Calgary and hope he goes back to old form

Jake has to become a Burrows being a winger that can move up or down as needed. Playing both RW & LW is good versatility.

Given the right partner so yes. D pairings are all about partners. Only the elite can overcome the mold. Eriksson types are rare but one example. OJ is not that.
