If you guys really want to fill out a full list of teams I'll sign up. How do we go about paying?

We have 6 already signed up. Looking to have at least 8 teams, preferably 10, but open to 12. There's a site called league safe that holds money in it, so no one has to worry about someone taking the money. I could say clearly im not a scumbag and wouldn't but you guys don't know that, so i think thats prob the easiest way.

I love the reply from Provy's agent. If they aren't that far off why doesn't Provy have a deal when were this close to September? They're still not close.

I would love to join but Im in 2 already. I have done 3 for the past 2 years and I find it a bit too much. Tend to forget to attend to one of my teams a couple times a week because I think I have already set my lineup for the day

Signings like AMac are a lot easier to avoid now, with analytics guys easily warning their GMs off of players with severe underlying issues.

Gotta cut Homer a break since the movement was still getting off the ground at the time, but signing a guy like that to a long term deal today would be indefensible.

To Amac's credit, he was the consummate professional and a steady influence here. But on the ice, he left a lot to be desired.

Not really surprising. Also Boston and Columbus are in the same situation.
And they managed both play-off last season Boston even going all the way to final

I can't help but wonder though - how many FAs could we potentially have attracted without AMac's hit hampering our cap space? Maybe last offseason we can out-bid Vegas for Stastny; I'm not anti-Hayes, but I can easily say I'd rather have Stastny at 6.5 or greater for two more years than Hayes at 7.14x7.

Defensive defenseman like MacDonald are still going to have a role in the NHL today. Not enough talent to go around. Veteran defenseman who can eat tough minutes are still a need. You're still going to see signings like that. MacDonald has some injury issues and some ups and downs but he gave the Flyers what they were looking for in most of his time here. He was given way more criticism than he deserved. Better player than given credit for. Like a lot of UFA signings, one year or so too many. Unfortunately they compounded that with the buyout.

I think the definition of what it means to play effective defense has changed since that time. The desired traits have shifted more toward preventing entries, active sticks, quick retrievals and triggering exits with possession. There's a new breed of defensive dmen.

For the most part, I agree but there aren't always enough of those players to go around. Coaches still value "situational" defenseman. Teams still have need for that kind of player. There are certainly a lot fewer jobs for that kind of player and may be even less in the future but still a need right now. There just aren't that many Nik Hjamalrsson's around.

Sure, but you wouldn't sign any situational guy to a long term deal taking up 8-10% of your team's cap now, right? That's all I'm saying.

Im pretty sure the market was set by Calgary signing Wisnewski(?) to a god-awful overpayment of a contract

It all depends on need. I agree the opportunities are less but the right player at the right time will get paid.

Agreed that AMac will find a home still. Just at a much more manageable cap hit.

Have to see what happens. I think he picked a good team. From a cursory knowledge of their roster, it seems as though they have room for a veteran depth defenseman. Have to see if he was affected by injury last season or was it sharp decline.

The day brash died. Wade killed him and brash was never the same afterwards. I will never forget that fight
