And I remember at the time thinking, out of the big three, Drury, Briere, and Gomez, Briere was the one I wanted least.

I guess that is why I don't run an NHL franchise.

My top 5 Flyer FA signings, both amateur and pro

1. Tim Kerr
Perhaps the best net front pp man in NHL history. His release on his snap shot was unreal and his 4 consecutive 50+ goal seasons has yet to be matched by any Flyer. I can only imagine how many goals he could score if he played in an era where they actually enforced the rules

2. Danny Briere
The most clutch playoff scorer for the Flyers since Rick MacLeish. Briere was at his best when the stakes were at their highest.

3. Dave Poulin
A true warrior and the 2nd best captain in team history. One of the best PKers in team history as well

4. Jeremy Roenick
He was a horse during the 03 and 04 playoff runs and he played through some horrific injuries. He also added some fun and levity to a team that needed it

5. Peter Forsberg
If he had been able to stay healthy, he’d be a lot higher on this list. For a short time though, he played as well as any player in team history.

@ Jagr signing, never understood why we didn't resign him. Seemed like a no-brainer and was a missed opportunity.
- ClaudeFather

Jagr liked it here but wasn't happy about being taken off PP1 in the latter part of his season here. Also, he didn't want to wait on the Flyers to figure out cap space for him while pursuing other UFAs. He got a raise to sign with Dallas.

Thanks for the explanation, he was such a good fit with G, sad it only lasted one season.

Jake replaced him and did pretty dang well which probably wouldn't have happened with Jagr still here. All in all I don't think Jagr leaving made much of a difference.

True, could have added depth though, who were the right wingers after him? Simmonds i'm assuming then?

Briere, Roenick and Forsberg were hands down the best signings I’ve witnessed as a Flyers’ fan.

The Chris Pronger trade is the best trade I’ve seen. Richards/Carter close seconds.

Does Yahoo still have that rule where your goalies have to play at least 3 times per week or their stats dont count for the previous 2?

Never cared for Yahoo fantasy sports.

Not with that 12-13 team playing behind Bryz. Talk about doomed from the start.

If Briere was homer's best UFA signing, Bryzgalov must have been the worst. Thank god for that compliance buyout.

Oh, I forgot about that.

I think you needed at least 3 starts combined between the two, but I could be wrong.

That's a legitimate rule haha, you have two good starts and can win the goalie categories besides wins, especially if you have a shutout. Yahoo fantasy is better than ESPN, forget about looking at the hockey ESPN ratings, it's atrocious.

The players that came of the two seconds we traded for Amac really makes Amac’s tenure here look much worse lol

It's an option but not necessary. It can be lessened or removed, figure we can leave those types of things to the majority.

Oh absolutely, I rarely use ESPN for anything other than looking up scores and the very rare hockey article, which is now all but extinct since Pronman, Pierre LeBrun and Scott Burnside were fired, and Bucci who really can't or isn't allowed to focus on hockey.

Yahoo for fantasy is #1 to me

Yea, and Poulin has a ton of flyers stories that he talk about. When he is hosting shows at TSN 1050.

Briere wasn’t just Homer’s best FA signing, but one of the Flyers all time best. In fact, the only better one I can think of was Tim Kerr who was signed as an amateur FA.
