Yes, but this is all in the context of this off season and RFAs looking to be paid. You aren't going to see many of these guys take team friendly deals like they used to (the examples you provided). That's my point.

personally i think the RFA holdouts (you forgot Tkachuk) has more to do with CBA opt outs than anything else. After mid September that air is cleared, I think contracts will be signed quickly.

I currently have a couple items that are in the $50.00 range that I need to get off my ass and sell on Kijiji. I would take like 10 minutes to snap pics and post an ad.

I just can't bring myself to do it. I probably will at some point.

I once tried to sell a car, I cannot tell you the number of people with ridiculous lowball offers and, like you, a few sob stories to try to get me to give it to them or sell at a dumb price.

On the other hand, nothing burns you more than trading in your car and getting literally 40% of the private sale value. I will never trade in a car again. I don't care if I have to tell lowballers to (frank) off.

I would guess the chances of low-ballers with sob stories turning around and re-listing it the same day are like 98%.

It wasn't meant to be a list of every high end RFA unsigned. I also 'forgot' to mention Kyle Connor and Patrik Laine then too

I think contracts will get signed then too, but they won't be team friendly.

He is an Anti-Fan.

Fact. not a name calling situation.

ha.
the problem is that most of you guys only watch Leafs, and do not have a good idea about players on other teams and what is happening in the league in general.
last season, some guys were arguing with me that Gardiner >>> Heiskanen any time.
Same with Hintz vs Johnsson.
Same with when I said Leafs should trade Reimer for Bobrovsky (while with Flyers) - yes, a lot of people still loved Reimer then!
i'm only an anti-fan in your mind, because you don't want to have an objective conversation about leafs players / leafs management decisions etc. - you just want to hear 'leafs are the best!!'.

really??

you yourself were raving about Barkov and McKinnon before they even entered the NHL. Not a big surprise they developed into topline C's.
same with Couturier - when he signed that bargain contract, he had already proven to be a great #2C with very much upside - a C capable of completely eliminating a top C like Malkin in a playoffs series.

- MaximusAurelius

Barkov signed his deal in January 2016. He is entering the FOURTH year of that contract.
MacKinnon signed his deal in July 2016. He is entering the FOURTH year of that contract.
Couturier signed his deal in July 2015. He is entering the FOURTH year of that contract.

Auston Matthews hadn't even been or had just been drafted when most of these deals were signed.

You're trying revisionist history and it doesn't work. The market has shifted. It has been happening with elite players coming out of their ELCs for some time. Malkin came out of ELC and signed a 5 year deal. Crosby came out of ELC and signed a 5 year deal. Kane and Toews came out of ELC and signed 5 year deals.

quite sure both McAvoy and Carlo will be signing team friendly deals.
same with Connor.
Werenski, Boeser and Rantanen as well.

White just signed a team friendly deal.

Marner's deal won't be team friendly - but if you compare it with Matthews' deal, it will be ok. (cannot say that Marner 6y at 10.25 is a bad contract if Matthews at 11.36 is ok).

Laine, Provorov, Tkachuk I don't think will be on team-friendly deals.

Boeser's camp is wanting 4 year deal 7 mill AAV.

That's reasonable!

And I have explained, why that contract is more than meets the eyes on this very message board.

And still we have McAvoy, Marner, Rantanen, Point, Werenski, Provorov unsigned.

- RickJames77

It's like a 5 year deal totaling ~30+ mil but will have two different cap hits.
1 - 4 and than 5 year which is his qualifying offer or better.

Come on Marner ... look at that contract and do something similar

You think Colin White is in the same tier as those players? I don't see why he deserved that contract nor do I think it's very team friendly.

Why are you quite sure all of those players will be signed to team friendly deals? If that were true, then they'd be signed already.

It would likely kill the CFL too

But I'm bored right now, so I'm gonna throw this out there.. iF Toronto did get an NFL team. What would be a good team name? I'll have to put some thought into it myself.

The Leafs are quickly moving towards a paperless ticketing system.

I was given the option this year ($50 RealSports incentive). But I like the actual tix - it's fun to see my daughters' friends keep them as souvenirs when we take them to games.

You used to be able to download the tix and email them - that ended a season or two ago. It has to be done through the Leafs app now.

My guess is within 2 years, there won't be any paper tickets. Will be very, very interesting to see what that does to scalpers.

I read that Provorov is asking for 10 mil a season. The KHL will be where he is playing next season.

Not a full year in the NHL. Only played 84 games total. 14 goals in 71 games..

Hardly a team friendly deal.

Sens took a calculated gamble by giving him a bit more than he could have asked for, but on a longer deal. 6y deal at 4.75mln will turn out to be a great deal for him in my opinion - he'll be a very good #2C for Sens.

And I think that some organizations in general get better deals on their players than other teams - some teams that in general make good roster decisions are Bruins and Tampa last couple of years.

Another very good contract is Larkin with Detroit.

start watching hockey and then you can make comments on other team's players.
White is a guy that will be a very good nhl 2nd line Center.

as I indicated before - I think that has more to do with the decision on opt out of current CBA (and a potential lockout next season) than anything else.

This is exactly what you will see. I remember those days as well. This season, as a Bruins season ticket holder, we were not given the option of paper tickets at all. They are (apparently, I haven't gotten them yet) credit card like things that you will swipe or scan to get into the game. You can still transfer tickets, but it's done similarly through a Bruins app. It seems the Bruins started going down this route before the Leafs because they stopped allowing email and printed tickets about 3 or 4 years ago IIRC. I'd expect it next year if I were you. I was disappointed - I've been working on a large collage of ticket stubs I've had since I was about 4 or 5 years old

Funny story though and very relevant as to part of the reason why they're doing this. I have a (former) family friend, who has a monumental drinking problem. Like seriously, I've never seen anything like this and I know my fair of boozers.

Anyways, before I had season tickets she would let me buy some and sometimes give them to me, which was very nice of her. One day I got a pair from her (the physical ones) to a day game against the Rangers. I go with a friend from college and we walk up to the turnstyles and they won't go through or were coming up as already scanned or something along those lines.

So we had to go down to the box office and figure this whole thing out. We have them call this person and she says we were supposed to be the ones at the game, so they sent us up with reprinted tickets. Denied again.

Go back down and this time they put a stamp on the tickets. The people saw it and just let us right in (kinda cool :lol

We get to the section, wait for a whistle, and walk down to the seats. We basically missed the entire 1st period at this point. There's a guy with what appears to be his son in our seats, so I politely asked if these were his seats, when I knew full well they weren't because I've sat there a bunch of times.

He gets up and goes yeah, I believe so let me check my ticket. No problem, man. He does and sure as poop he has an email and printed off ticket for the same seats, which is why our original ones and reprinted ones wouldn't scan. Now the usher is coming down and asks us to walk up and figure it out.

He says we'll relocate the guy and his son to the balcony. I said no, put us up there, I've sat there plenty of times and the kid would be devastated (hyperbole) if he was removed from a 3rd row seat to the upper bowl. They wouldn't have it and forced us to sit there, while this kid and his father had to go somewhere else. I kind of felt like a Richard.

Anyways, fast forward a bit, and right before the second period some guy taps me on my shoulder and goes he bud, I think you're in my seats. I said I can assure I am not, please go talk to the usher. This person gave or sold three people a set of tickets to the same damn game! I doubt it was the only time she'd ever done it either.
