Maybe not goalie fatigue, but Ander5en is developing a history of bad goals in big games. I am looking forward to hopefully Woll or Scott developing into a good starter. So tough to find a reliable goalie.

I think theres a chance one of those goalies will have a future in the NHL.

I'm leaning a little more towards Scott, he seems more poised in net. Woll is almost like another Sparks in net from what I've seen. But still plenty of time to fix that so we will see.

Just chirping Habs fans after some of the Domi hot-takes when his name came up in a Laine trade discussion.

I think I saw him post a picture of Cooperstown on facebook the other day, so I presume he's on vacation.

I'm well aware of the boner you have for him.

But yeah I hope he proves me wrong and is capable of being a number 1 goalie in the near future.

I can't confirm he had a coke problem.

But the guy was partying like crazy and clearly didn't make hockey his #1 priority. THAT I can say for sure.

And that his family/girlfriend were nuts.

the only thing he resembles Sparks is that he needs to work on his rebound control.
contrary to Sparks though, he has great lateral movement, and doesn't lose his eye from the puck.. he's very athletic as well, but doesn't overplay (relying on his athletic abilities) - but instead focuses very much to rely on his positional play.
in addition, he doesn't seem like a guy that is easily bothered by adversity / bad luck (unlike Sparksy).

Touché

I just hope either him or Scott pan out to be a #1

It's nice to see we have hope when it comes to goaltenders in the pipeline.

Interesting quote from HFBoards, not sure how accurate it is:

Marner was sub-40% CF% without Tavares, and 53% CF% with. Tavares literally carried Marner the entire season.

Get with the plan, Adam.
Dubas is the best GM in NHL's history, because he:
1/ is young
2/ cares about real important issues (more important than winning a Stanley Cup).
3/ 'understands' how to handle the younger guys
4/ uses innovative approaches
5/ has some kind of magic innate player evaluation intuation that trumps all other GMs in the league
6/ wears great glasses
7/ gives bad apples 2nd chances
8/ is a great negotiator
9/ is a great communicator
10/ goes to festivals

My acid test is, how many "untradeable" contracts has he signed. Perhaps only 1, Ceci. I still don't get it, but at least it is only 1 year.

So every other guy he signed could be moved to another team, I don't think any "sweeteners" would be needed. That means he hasn't gone off the board and done anything stupid.

- Aetherial

The way I see it, if Zaitsev was still on the team, it would be the same cap hit.
With 1 year of Ceci or less at the moment but could be more after the 1 year or so is up.

Although i dont agree with 99.9% of the things Max says, i do believe that if Lou was still the GM these contracts would have been done a lot quicker.

that's because Dubas hasn't really done anything with significant risk.
(he did make quite a few bad decisions though: McBackup vs Sparks; keeping Holl and Marincin over Leivo and McBackup and then giving away Leivo for free; giving up too much for Muzzin; ..)

Tavares was a risk-free no-brainer move.

So far, he hasn't solved the backup goalie issue.
He is very stubborn holding on to 'his guys'.
He has been very very mediocre in contract negotiations (Matthews with the most player friendly contract in league; Johnsson overpaid; Nylander took 2 months too long to solve; Marner not treated as a #1 priority earlier; etc.).
Plus he hasn't really improved the D: losing Hainsey, Zaitsev, Gardiner and getting back Muzzin, Barrie (probably for just 1 year at the cost of Kadri), Ceci isn't that much of an upgrade.

Babcock is in a 'win now' mode - and Dubas is basically only thinking about prolonging his stay as a Leafs GM - by avoiding taking any risk. Obviously GMs always want to think mid- to long term, but you have to want to take a risk to win now as well.. Dubas hasn't done so so far.

- MaximusAurelius

I think it turned ok for the Leafs as he has a lower cap hit moving forward than if he would of sign when training camp opened up.

Everyone shat the bed because of the length of time it took Lou to ink Matthews to his ELC

I really dont know, could be.

Signing Nylander/Matthews/Marner is obv a given, but some of the other deals he gave out are poop
