It was a bad decision and I said Sparks wasn't good enough even before that decision was made.
If Dubas was so keen on keeping the unproven Sparks, at least keep 3 goalies and get rid of Marincin or Holl. Then after 8 games of Sparks, make a final decision (it was clear what it was going to be anyways, but still...).
The point is that Dubas is not very good at evaluating some players - seems the message is not that the best players stay, but that some of 'his guys' get more chances than other guys. That's not good. - MaximusAurelius
Of course his guys get chances, that's why their his guys, that's what his guys means. |

Sparks was more than deserved of his opportunity. McBackup had one good season to his name at the time, so looked like an anomaly. Should he have gone with McBackup? Maybe. But hindsight is 20/20.
I don't really subscribe to the whole goalie fatigue thing, not in the first round exits we've had: that's the Bruins getting into our heads, as usual, and Kadri making bad decisions (with a healthy dose of Babcock not riding his horses when we're down a goal). |

Would you rather have Zaitzev @ $4.5MM for 5 years or Ceci for 1?
And yes it's worth giving up a $2.1MM third line plug that can be replaced for 1/2 the price.
- .HOHO.
Zaitsev vs Ceci is not the decision I don't understand.
They could have let him go to arbitration and then walked. I do not see what he has done to earn 4.5, and even if he has a good season, it will only serve to escalate his next contract.

I'm just glad we can finally all agree on Galchenyuk's limited abilities after all these year.
Now that Max Domi is a top-10 center in the league. - Scabeh

Maybe not goalie fatigue, but Ander5en is developing a history of bad goals in big games. I am looking forward to hopefully Woll or Scott developing into a good starter. So tough to find a reliable goalie.

For what it's worth, I still think Galchenyuk is filled with talent.
He's just an idiot.
And wasn't very professional in his time in Montreal.
Maybe he finds his way in Pittsburgh. |

mid September it is clear whether one of NHL and NHLPA has opted out of the current CBA.
it is not very strange that some RFAs are holding out signing new contracts until it is clear whether there will be anothe lockout - players look to get rid of escrow and guarantees to participate in the Olympics.
A new CBA would probably be more player friendly - and signing a new contract now would potentially cost a few million over a deal 5+years.
Hence before signing a new contract, players will want to know first when the new CBA will come into place.
(I strongly suspect there will be another lockout by the way). |

Did he really have a coke problem.
I mean, it is tough to tell since that roomer is about as prevalent as the endless players sleeping with other player's wives roomers.
Yeah, he has the talent. He showed it in flashes. |

Just chirping Habs fans after some of the Domi hot-takes when his name came up in a Laine trade discussion.

I can't confirm he had a coke problem.
But the guy was partying like crazy and clearly didn't make hockey his #1 priority. THAT I can say for sure.
And that his family/girlfriend were nuts. |
