For the record, I do think Patrick will be a first line center. Right now it’s just about growing into his body, health and who he plays with, not much different from Couturier. |

Good for you. You've got yourself a great career to look forward to in grammar checking hockey forums. Get a life. - Baxter27
Don't be such a sensitive little snowflake.
It might actually help whatever career you hope to have when you grow up if you learn how to use words correctly. |

I tend to agree, I think he's gonna be a damn good player in this league, he's only gonna be 21 too. I think the sky is the limit for him. |

Off topic Question
Would anyone be interested in starting a forum fantasy hockey league? My league fell apart this year after a couple rough years so I'm looking to start another one. Maybe for 20 bucks through Yahoo, would anyone be interested at all? |

To make it easier, we can do a first come first serve with whoever is interested. The link to join is below, all standard stuff, nothing too crazy.

and
4) Experienced higher quality D signings to help some players mature. Less of a s! show in the d zone.
5) And no I dont think the free agent center or D signings will lead to a pyrrhic victory down the road

Flyers have a history of giving up on prospects before they reach their potential, i.e Sharp, Williams, Bob.. Recently though they bucked that trend by sticking with Coots after some fans were screaming bust and to trade him prior to him breaking out.
My question is, if Patrick has a down season this year at the 3C role, do Flyers start exploring trade options like the blunders of the past, or do they give him the time the gave Coots to finally develop and break out? |

I think 2 underrated items this offseason
having an experienced coach and the playoff experience mentality of Niskanen and Braun. |

If he had a down year at 3C I see no point in trading him, his value won't be much. Why not keep a kid that still has potential and is cheap to resign for the bottom 6? |

Personally, I don't think Couturier can be included in that premise. He showed he was an NHL player pretty much from day one in the league. What some uninformed fans were screaming is really not relevant. |

All of this plus.........
People tend to forget or overlook that last season was a perfect storm of bad luck. I don't think in in another 20 years we will see any team use 9 goalies or have the injury stats this team did at goaltender.
If our goalies stayed even remotely healthy last season, using only 4 or 5 might have made THE difference, that is how bad it was IMO. |

Combined with two playoff teams that got extraordinary goaltending from a couple guys in Carolina and Islanders. |

If I remember correctly teams were calling and asking about his availability, so yes even though Coots showed that he belonged right away, still doesn't mean the Flyers weren't listening to offers that could have potentially lead to him being traded, and thus added to the list of blunders (players traded too soon). Maybe add JvR to that list as well? |

Any NHL team is going to answer the phone and hear what other teams are offering. I don't see how that speculation moves Couturier into that category. |

giving up on them wasnt the reason they were moved. |

Best available was the mantra this year and I agree with you on both points.
I have issues with Therrien, but not in an assistants role.
