What do you think, Colin White + for Risto? I think Ottawa says no, mostly due to salary of Risto (not cap hit, but that the actual dollars owed is the same as the cap hit).
- Lilroot9

I would think that Ottawa wouldn't want to get older at this point, but who knows

Well Ottawa likes to help division rivals, so who knows. (still not sure why they helped Leafs out). But I agree with you, very little chance it would happen for a lot of reasons.

So we are trading Risto for futures ? Also way to go from one extreme to the other btw. I never said to have a team with max cap room, you have to spend to the ceiling to remain competitive. Im concerned with how the dollars are spent. We need to be strong down the middle, on the blue line, and in goal.

It is a coincidence that the Blackhawks haven’t done anything relevant since giving Kane $10.5M ? Kane is the best winger in the NHL yet having the best season of his career didn’t get the Hawks to the playoffs. Heck even Debrincant scored 40. If you don’t have a strong d-corps and depth down the middle it won’t matter. Goalies are more important then wingers.

OMG! You are most definitely a strange bird with little to know understanding that the Deeper you Dig the farther you fall brother. WOW - You just suggested Patrick Kane and his Salary were/are a REASON why the Blackhawks didn't win another Cup!!!!!!

Are we really worried about our capologist GM being able to figure out how to build a roster and how to not carry several albatross contracts years into the future? Is that where we are on August 19th?
- TheSabresTaco

I cant even engage the few who are praddling on about it, its that ridiculous

You are both clever and stupid for putting forth this reference. And it is simultaneously both until someone reads it, at which point, it becomes just one of the two.

This might not be as important as cap space in 22-23, but it's something.

"Vladimir Sobotka did not want to be in Buffalo last season and took very little, if no responsibility for his poor play. One solution would be to loan Sobotka to a team in Europe. Botterill said, “I would say that maybe he wasn’t a happy player, but none of our players were very happy at the end of the season, we didn’t have a successful second half of the season and our mindset with Vlad is he’s coming in and he’s part of our group and we have a new head coach that’s going to put players in different roles and you’re going to see at the start of training camp and through the six preseason games a lot of different lineups and a lot players in different roles.”

Botterill said Casey Mittelstadt took the offseason very seriously and has improved his conditioning."

-WGR

He's defending his players publicly, even though the way he phrases this is that Vlad was unhappy all year. Of course the rest of the team was miserable by April, or March.

One of our big in-season complaints is player usage. Hopefully we get to see more appropriate usage and Sobotka in OT at most 0% of the time.

Also, the thing about Casey, it's a lie, he's fat and useless.

Tarasenko is better a winger. They also don’t even make the playoffs without the goaltending change.

And that goalie made under a mil. Never pay a goalie. Like (frank)ING NEVER.. Or you will... PAY THE PRICE.

I know one of Krueger's black marks from Edmonton's 12-13 team was his team defense wasn't very good.

Fistric, Peckham, Petry, Potter, Justin Schultz, Nick Schultz, Smid, Whitney.

Whitney was a shell. Petry was coming into his own as a top 4. The rest of those guys were dumpsters. Frankly I'm impressed they didn't finish bottom 2.

Justin Schultz was pure offence.

This is worth the read from Bill Hoppe. Some Joker and Krueger stuff. You can't not be a fan of both of these guys, at the very least, on paper.

I'm begging for the "he's on the Sabres roster today" comment.

That quote is the harbinger of trade.

No I argued the significance of defense, goaltending, and centre ice man. Also how it was easier for the Blackhawks to surround Kane and Toews when they were making team friendly contracts. The Blackhawks aren’t losing becuase of Kane, they are losing because Seabrook, Keith are essentially playing at replacement level of performance, and before they traded for Strome (whom the jury is still out on) they didn’t have much at the Centre Ice position behind Toews. Coupled with the fact that Crawford can’t stay healthy. The Blackhawks had two 40 goal scorers on the wing but still struggled.

Carolina, Isles, Stars, Blues, Bruins, all had strong defense corps, got solid goaltending, and had good depth down the middle. Ultimately some of the aforementioned didn’t score enough in the playoffs but adding a $9M dollar winger means you have to subtract from somewhere else on the roster.

I love how people pencil dahlin in for 8 mil per already

that is the last thing the sabres need, dahlin able to walk in 10 years

give him a 3 year 18 mil bridge deal next summer

then lock him up at 8 years 10 mil per

keep the kid a sabres for life

Are you saying that the teams listed above were good, but did not have good wingers? So therefore, that is the way to build a team? Or that they don't spend money on wingers (but do on Centers, D, and Goalie)?
