Yes.

Their d has 387 years of combined experience and make $60 million against the cap for the next 4 decades

It's an exaggeration, but not really

Yeah that's some overpaid 'top pair' right there.

Was it a mistake to sign Tarasenko four years ago for $7.5m? With cap inflation, that's $9m now

That guy will NEVER help a team win the cup

FFS

Tarasenko is better a winger. They also don’t even make the playoffs without the goaltending change.

I’d swap Risto for Laine but I wouldn’t add anything of significance considering Laine is going to want more $$ than he’s worth

Can I get Connor instead?

I do think trading Risto is the best move for the team, but none of those players do I really want. So get more odds on better options for us. lol

Ehlers - takes shifts off, A Nylander 2.0

Gostisbehere - Isnt this just Risto 2.0?

W Nylander - I think he has talent, but I don't think he is worth the contract (more reason we WOULD get him? lol) and I don't want to trade with Toronto

Malkin - Too old. I love Malkin, but he has maybe a couple solid years let at most.

I would rather trade for a younger RFA player (maybe taking a chance on someone) with a veteran player too (offset the $$ cap hit), then take on any of these. I think I might almost want draft picks over any of the above players (and that's bad).

Alright, alright. The following involve picks as well and will probably be less popular than the last bunch, but

Here
We
Go

12/1 - Hoffman
15/1 - Hinostroza
25/1 - Boeser
30/1 - Kopitar

Yeah we do have the space.

It's too bad we didn't have the space this off season.

There are big fish still unsigned in the RFA world.

Problem is we're a little short on tradable assets. Getting one of those monsters is going to be quite the return.

Boser, yes. How much do I have to add with Risto for him?

So you can win a cup with a high-paid winger, but only if he's better than Skinner based on a metric created by the Denver Broncos and also it's basically a fluke

This just in: The Washington Capitals value Braden Holtby over Alex Ovechkin. More at 11.

Risto and Olo and a 1sr for Boeser? Not sure I like that. I mean, I don't.

So we are trading Risto for futures ? Also way to go from one extreme to the other btw. I never said to have a team with max cap room, you have to spend to the ceiling to remain competitive. Im concerned with how the dollars are spent. We need to be strong down the middle, on the blue line, and in goal.

It is a coincidence that the Blackhawks haven’t done anything relevant since giving Kane $10.5M ? Kane is the best winger in the NHL yet having the best season of his career didn’t get the Hawks to the playoffs. Heck even Debrincant scored 40. If you don’t have a strong d-corps and depth down the middle it won’t matter. Goalies are more important then wingers.

- Swedish_Jesus

I think the issue with Chicago was not Kane (of course), but with their D and goaltending (as you stated). So are you saying Chicago should trade Kane for a better D and better goaltender? That will make the team better, right?

That is a deal I am not sure I can make (I know it seems close to fair). Also Van has a ton of D right now, so maybe they are not the best target at this time.

Yeah, I think when they signed Myers, that ship sailed. Just trying to toss some more names in the mix

No problem. I do think he is possible (due to them not being able to sign a deal, yet), but as you stated, a price the Sabres should walk away from.

What do you think, Colin White + for Risto? I think Ottawa says no, mostly due to salary of Risto (not cap hit, but that the actual dollars owed is the same as the cap hit).
