Did marner get left off tessiers list? Any reason why?
- mykokes

Probably to rile up Leafs fans and get them to comment about it.

Or he just thought there were better options for his list. I get the feeling he doesn't really like the Leafs.

Roeper started it all off with his usual copy/paste nobody knows how the cap works. Look ahead to next season to see what LH referred to. 1 D signed.
- Nighthawk

There were pages on the Canucks blog about the Leafs before I even commented. LOL

You might be right other than the teams around the league are getting better. Are the Leafs as good as last year or better or other teams make the adjustments?
- Nighthawk

Teams will get better, some will get worse. No different than every season

I think he is referring to the nucks?

Pushing up against the cap with their best players not yet signed past elc's.

- Tumbleweed

Imagine if Leafs spent almost all their cap on supporting guys before even signing their young players. LOL

There will be some choices to make, but unless Ceci suddenly figures out how to be good, we'll have his 4.5m off the cap to resign either Barrie or Muzzin. Hopefully either Liljegren or Sandin can make the jump to the NHL so one of them will take a spot with an elc.

It will be a bit tricky to resign Dermott though, especially if they want to keep both Barrie and Muzzin. I dunno if it'd be smart to offer Muzzin what he will likely want though since he'll probably want a fair amount and it will all be into his 30's, so maybe they let him go.

There will need to be a little cap wizardry for straightening out he defence for sure, but I'm sure Dubas and Pridham have plans.

The fact is, most of our cap is tied up in really good players. At least it's not tied up in mediocre players, so it could be much worse.

- Thecakeisalie

I'm sure rival fans will taunt us all year that Dermott will get an offersheet.

I'd say not liking the Leafs, or maybe being unfamiliar with the NHL.

Serious question, can a guy who is primarily a setup man really "dominate"? The first thing that comes to mind about Adam Oates or Joe Thornton isn't "dominant".
- Wetbandit1

I would absolutely call Thornton dominate for the few seasons where he basically butt-(frank)ed the league.

He's proven time and time again that he doesn't watch other teams and also when it comes to the Leafs, he can't hide his moronic bias.

Jets currently have six roster holes to fill. So they bring in four guys at league minimum it leaves just $14.7 for Laine and Connor. Now if those two happen to be on the same page as Peter it's not a stretch to imagine they'd expect to get paid more than Marner, right?

Not sure how that works out.

I'd say being brain-dead, having less objectivity than Tanner and not liking the Leafs are probable causes

Jets also seem to have players not too interested in being there. Imagine the fuss if Marner just gave the interview Laine did?

I imagine marner would suddenly appear on his list if he signed a Vancouver offer sheet......or a winnipeg one maybe? Anyways, I if he's really that petty, his call.

I live in Winnipeg. If I were in my 20's and had millions of dollars I can't imagine another city in the league being less appealing than here.

Edmonton isn't much better but at least there you can drive from one side of the city to the other without going through fifty (frank)ing stop lights.

MAYBE Rantanen, but even then, I think I'd still take Marner.

1. Marner
2. Rantanen
3. Tkachuk
4. Laine
5. Debrinicat

- david22

I think this is my list as well, although I’m not certain about the order. Marner and Rantanen could be either 1 or 2. As of now, I believe Marner deserves the top slot.

The reality of today’s NHL is that the only teams that don’t have cap issues are the ones that are perineal non-contenders.

Mitchell Theodosius Marner is a 9/10 winger and a 7.5/10 hockey player. He is very good at the game. He is not in the same league as the superstars. He does not have the ability to take over the game like Kane, Crosby, Ovechkin, MacDaffid, or M'tthews. These are the 5 most dominant players in the game.

The reality is that DeBrincat and Laine are better goal scorers and Tkachuk is a better hockey player.

Bucket of ice-water time: The Eafs are bad. Toronto is a postmodern socialist lame-o town. Justine Trudeau: Queen of the peoplekind, lord of the substitute teachers, loser of trade deals with God Emperor Trump, and heir to Fidel Castro will never preside over the necessary resurgence of Celtic fury and warrior culture that beat the communists in '71. In one of the great catastrophes of modern human history, Canada has become a loser. Remember passchendaele, forsake Marner... rise!

Not sure what most of this has to do with hockey, but on that topic I disagree.
I am by no means a Leaf supporter. I am actually a Rangers fan living deep inside Leaf country. Neither am I saying Marner is on the level of McDavid or the other very elite players. But, you are wrong (IMO) about his ability to take over a game. He is electric and makes his teammates better virtually every game. He deserves to get paid he will. I dont agree with his holding out, but such is the NHL these days.

You need to watch more of Marner's play. He absolutely is elite and can take over a game. The rest of your post doesn't merit comment.

So the only wingers you're willing to submit are outright better hockey players than Marner are two 30-something Hall of Famers and... Matthew Tkachuk.

Okay.
