History has a tendency to repeat itself. It's not that far fetched. Nylander ain't dat great.
Marner 8x8 and like it? That is downright hilarious. Good work letting nylander bend you over on that contract, bohica, its Marners turn now.
The leaves will have the same personnel, probably less actually, that got them booted in the first round it's just going to cost them another 25 or so Million per year.
That window is slamming shut. - TheHank
LOL @ the thought a 2 time 61 point scorer getting 6.9 per is "Bending" a GM over.
And what will you say when he gets his 3rd 60 point season,a and likely 70+? Is that millions overpaid? Try following the NHL buddy. |

Canucks have far bigger cap concerns. Don't be a hypocrite. |

Do they even have first rounds in Bufffalo - Njuice
Yes. Sabres are a top 10 team dominate team in the 1st round.
Guys like Mittlestad, a.nylander, risto, Reinhart, freakarenko, zadaorov, armia and grigersons are 2nd only to Edmonton in dominance.

I've been assured multiple times the Canucks have no cap issues. It's all good.
Carry on. |

I really don't feel like debating the merits of the Leafs. Maybe you could create a private forum and hang out there for awhile. |

Serious question, can a guy who is primarily a setup man really "dominate"? The first thing that comes to mind about Adam Oates or Joe Thornton isn't "dominant". - Wetbandit1
I see what you're saying and while you're not wrong, remember these are pretty much legends and hall of famers you're mentioning. I dont know if he can or cant but I think he has the potential but we wont know till we see him in his prime. |

I mean Gretzky was primarily a setup man, after he got bored with scoring goals. |

They lost to the cup runnerups in 7 games, without Kadri, and most of their talent around 22yrs old. Think they’ll be ok. - Bullot
Can the Canucks use that excuse in 2007 2010 2012 losing to eventual cup winners?
Cup finalist loser count?
What about a full season without Kadri will the Leafs be better or worse?
Tbh injuries play a big role in the PO’s & can derail almost any team or at least not win the cup. Depth in the end is needed for the long & hard grind. |

While I agree, we have to remember these guys arent even in their primes yet, and while cap space is tight it's because they have, for the most part, young stars. Hard to find a really bad contract on the team with any relevant term. Imo it's been money well spent. The next move is to fire the coach if there isnt any playoff success again. - systemtool
Totally agree. Well spent is still tbd though.

You might be right other than the teams around the league are getting better. Are the Leafs as good as last year or better or other teams make the adjustments? |

Roeper started it all off with his usual copy/paste nobody knows how the cap works. Look ahead to next season to see what LH referred to. 1 D signed. |

Yes, you can. Unless I'm trying to trash talk the Canucks. Then you can't.
It always sucks to lose, and other teams (fans) will chirp, but there can be only one winner and good teams fail every year.
Look how long it took Washington to win. People were going on for years about how they were like the Canucks with the Sedins, a good regular season team that couldn't get it done when it matters, and suggesting OV was a poor leader. People are dumb.
Hard to say how much impact not having Kadri will be. But considering he didn't play much playoffs the last two years, we'll probably be better off with Kerfoot and Barrie lol. |

There will be some choices to make, but unless Ceci suddenly figures out how to be good, we'll have his 4.5m off the cap to resign either Barrie or Muzzin. Hopefully either Liljegren or Sandin can make the jump to the NHL so one of them will take a spot with an elc.
It will be a bit tricky to resign Dermott though, especially if they want to keep both Barrie and Muzzin. I dunno if it'd be smart to offer Muzzin what he will likely want though since he'll probably want a fair amount and it will all be into his 30's, so maybe they let him go.
There will need to be a little cap wizardry for straightening out he defence for sure, but I'm sure Dubas and Pridham have plans.
The fact is, most of our cap is tied up in really good players. At least it's not tied up in mediocre players, so it could be much worse. |
