There was a poll recently on Sportsnet 650. Last I saw it was in the 60's for making it.

If we are not chasing the game as much & we see significantly better break outs with a better PP i see us in the PO’s. In goal we are fine.

I just think trading away (high) draft picks is the wrong way to go about building. Build through the draft, replace players with younger ones, get extra draft picks. If you need to go outside the FA market for help, then use some combination of own/acquired picks to address, but having 1st/2nd is important to this model
- 1970vintage

Well technically you are not wrong I just think we differ on where we are in that 'model'.

Through the draft we have Horvat, Boeser, Pettersson Hughes and Demko. And they have replaced older players. Now it's time to start supporting them with players that will help them succeed. Is that time now? Debatable but I feel you think we need a few more years of top picks which is all good and fine in the grand scheme...but we don't want to slip into Oiler mode where top 10 picks are squandered either. It's sooner rather than later but obviously ownership wants this club in the PO's and are doing what they think is necessary to make it happen. Either way I feel we are in for an exciting year even if they don't make it.

The next wave of prospects is coming some patience is needed. Continue to draft & add more players is to be expected with more expectations of success. Expectance is hard for many. I expect a fun season. Expecting nothing less than D to be much better.

While I'm not sure Benning deserves an extension based off of his track record, I expect he'll be fired regardless if they are still a bottom 5 team.

I dont think it changes anything

No doubt but if a bottom 5 happens bigger problems are afoot.

Within 2 years OJ, Tryamken, Hoglander, Podkolzen and Woo will be knocking down the door for a roster spot. Not to mention guys like Lind, Lockwood, Rathbone and Madden will be in the thick of it. That's at least 8 more guys competing.

Since so many Canuck prospects don't play in the AHL its not as easy to assess the number of guys ready to push for a spot. The ones ready to leave their leagues just show up for main camp and then get the attention on what they can do.

As one of the four horseman of team whiner, I for one am happy Benji has been given a vote of confidence by ownership. Not because I think he is the best guy for the job, but because I hate the idea of Benning approaching the trade deadline with personal uncertainty.

No, I think if things go relatively well, they'll be a playoff team.

You did post that recently as a wish so maybe more will come. You are on a roll, it's pre-season hope time, what else should be added?

I'd like to see one that include fans of other teams as well.

I'm watching training camp right now of one of the worst teams in football but I can still see positives.

Eriksson torn Achilles at training camp, Sutter traded for a 2nd and a 3rd, Goldy traded for a 2nd. At least when they make the playoffs and give up the 1st the'll have 3 2nds and 2 3rds.

Kesler, Sedin's, Burrows, Bieksa... It's pretty close! Nonis did luongo and Gillis hamhuis. Burke did most of the heavy lifting.

Kinda seems like you might be off the team, we will see what Driftwood says. He's owner/captain/coach, ala Jackie Moon, of team whiner.

True Bieksa as well. Wasn't sure on Burrows as he was undrafted. Nonis was Lou yes on a trade. But as bad as Gillis was at drafting Hamhuis, Ehrhoff, Samuelson, Malholtra, Higgins, Torres, Lapierre, Rome, and probably a few others were all Gillis additions for the cup run. Without any one (or all of those) acquisitions we probably don't make the finals.

Burrows was a Moose find who signed during Nonis. No Burke involved.

...but with someone or someones better we win the cup no?

Kidding aside, if they hired Quenville instead of AV,,, we would have won in my opinion.
