I mean like the way Detroit made it clear to players no one makes more than Lidstrom.

I bet Marner would be happy with 11 millions per year

It is a bit crazy how contracts can vary from team to team. Like there's always someone's contract that seems to be a benchmark for other players' next deals on the same team. I bet you this is changing before our eyes though. I wouldn't want to limit my earnings because someone else's agent is poopty at his job and got a bad deal or because another player took less to keep the team competitive. That might make me think about taking a team friendly deal, but it shouldn't be assumed I would.

They're all overpaid. I'd be happy too.

Marner deserves Matthews money, which he didn't deserve. Don't buy the BS about centers being more valuable s Marner drives the play whenever he's on the ice.

Is Laine worth the same dough as Matthews ?

What about Connor, does he get JvR dought as well?

sure they do .

Great GMs don't need to cave. Many a great player has been traded and those teams went on to great things. The cave is in right now.

Laine is really good at the hardest thing to do in hockey.

agreed.

laine needs to be paid marners deserved matthews undeserved money, not his deserved money.

I wonder if RFAs get more rights after the next CBA. This wasn't much of an issue 8 years ago because there weren't many 18 or 19 year olds in the league and if there were, they usually weren't doing anywhere near what each seasons' 18 & 19 yo are doing now.

How are the Leafs going to clear out $11M in cap space? Serious question.

(or whatever number Marner actually ends up. It all seems pretty difficult).

I just hope something is done about the guaranteed contracts. Either go soft cap or get id of guaranteed contracts. This system is trying to do both and it sucks.

Trade Nylander like they should have done last year.

Front load Cecis contract into bonus money so he can be traded to a floor team - too late for this one.

Yeah it’d be nice to be able to cut a player who isn’t living up to his end of the deal

I think we'd lose a year of hockey if the owners tried to make contracts non guaranteed. I wouldn't hate it though. As long as the soft cap doesn't turn this into the NBA. I don't really understand any other league's salary cap works. Hell, I'm not great at the NHLs either

gm's choose not too.

sabres could buyout norristolainen for only 1/3 of the value.

Sorry your right. And by years end his contract will be the steal of the league. Sometimes I forget how generous the guy is.

Draisaitl has a good contract now.

It was bad at first.

Now it’s good.
