I shutter to think that when Rutherford is fired or steps away from the Penguins, Pierre will interview for the job. That prospect gives me nightmares.
I don't think any owner in the league is stupid enough to actually hire Pierre for a GM position. The funny thing is that he would probably be a slightly better GM than he was a coach but that is not saying much, considering that he was one of the worst coaches ever.
The one and only job that he was actually pretty good at was a scout. Even now he always has to comment on the peewee/junior team that a 37 year old veteran played for more than two decades ago, as if that has any relevance to the current game. As a GM he might be able to scout out some good prospects but he would be routinely burned in trades since none of the other GM's would respect him.
Still, as long as he is not hired by the Pens I would love to see him get hired as it would get him off the air . |

Who do y’all think will shoulder a bigger load in responsibilities? I hope it’s our analytics dude. Karmanos? I think that’s how it’s spelled. |

Yes. I probably got him mixed up with someone else’s. Thanks. If it’s him, I think that would be great for the future. |

I think I remember reading Karmanos had a background with analytics when he was hired, they've since hired Ventura as a full-time expert. And he probably will be GMJR's right hand man now. So he's probably who you're thinking of and you're not off.
Read somewhere the Pens might elevate their development director (Young?) to larger responsibilities if Guerin leaves. |

I've been thinking that former GMs acquiring their former players is definitely "a thing" (we've seen this with JR, Botts, etc.). So if Guerin gets the Minnesota job, maybe he's the one with the grit boner for JJ? Maybe there's another player he likes and wants thrown in? Who's this Zucker guy? He doesn't even know him. - Hockey66
Been thinking about this lately as it seems like Guerin is getting the job.
The Wild have an open forward spot and Zuccerello is their only real top 9 RW. They have a lot of LWs they are likely to force on their off-side. They also have some cap space. So Rust would make a ton of sense there.
You could argue that bottom LD spot isn't nailed down either, so IF Guerin is a fan of JJ that's a possible landing spot. I think that would have to wait until the rebuild though.
Unfortunately, think they'll hang on to Zucker for now. I think there will be a fire sale soon in Minnesota though thanks to Fenton's mismanagement. |

Yeah, the ship on Zucker has probably sailed. However, here's another even more unlikely trade piece: Horny. Maybe Guerin and Horny have a good relationship and Horny would waive his NTC to Minnesota if Guerin is hired (so many "ifs," I know). Maybe Guerin thinks the Wild need an "identity" (they desperately do). They have the roster space and the cap space (one of the few teams that have both).
So here's the trade that will never happen:
Zucker for Horny + Rust + JJ + 1st. |

I would cry tears of joy if this deal happened. I'm hoping if Guerin goes to Minnesota he can take some of the Pen's baggage but it isn't something I'd bet on. |

Yeah, likewise. Probably not enough for Minnesota. Maybe need to add a 2nd or two. I'd still do it. |

That seems a little sketchy given that he has zero experience. I would rather take a chance on someone after the window. But then, if there are multiple assistants, maybe it doesn't matter much. But does this mean he will be in charge of WBS? |

It was more of a joke lol but also seems like something GMJR would do. |

While we are at it, heard Ziggy Palffy would like to come back to the Pens as an assistant GM... |

Pretty bad huh?
What do you guys think we should do with Jarry? Apparently there are too many good options @ goalie still on the market and trying to trade Tristan has been pretty hard.
I’d say attach him to any trade to clear cap space wether it’s JJ, Guds, Rust or Horny. |

I think Karmanos would get a slightly increased role. Scott Young would get some more responsibility, but Velluci the new WBS coach would likely get some roster control down in the AHL as well. He ran the Checkers as the GM/coach for a number of years.
I see Cullen being more of a Recchi type. A few years in development, then behind the bench. |

Keep him. If the rumors are true, he will likely clear waivers. I don't think he has any value at this point. |

Roster spots throughout the league are pretty tough right now. Amazing if you compare a few years ago. |

Same. If there's a trade to be made, maybe a goalie gets hurt at camp, make it. But he's probably clears waivers. He hasn't shown enough for a team to rely on him. |

Goalies get claimed when a team has injury issues during camp/preseason. |
