Signing Baptiste makes Mariner expendable. If you slot Baptiste in Mariners spot on that line, he can easily equal #16's production

It (frank)ing sucks that Point is going to get less than Marner.

Laine will probably get 2-3 million less on a long term deal.

I just keep hearing Marner is supposed to set the bar for RFA's.

It sucks he will have to be overpaid to play here.

Exactly.

It has filled Marner and his camp with hot air as well.

Yup.

The rest of the RFA's are salivating waiting for him to be overpaid.

You gotta wonder when the rest of the RFA's cave in if Marner takes too long.

The media only speaks of Marner, probably has a lot to do with it. You'd think Marner was the only unsigned RFA. When Aho is the only RFA who has signed so far and that is only due to the forced offersheet.

I really hope Marner signs by training camp. It's real annoying seeing a 'new' article about him every other day about the same thing.

- LeafGuy89
I get and agree with your point, but Aho isn't the only RFA to sign. The Sharks took care of their business by signing Lebanc and Meier.

I'd argue both Mier and Leblanc got royally screwed.

They are both underpaid...so not the best example for RFA's wanting to get paid.

And Point is waiting for Marner.

TB knows if they sign Point early then Marner's deal goes down. And rightfully so.

leblanc seems like some sort of hand-shake deal for more money later.

idk, that one was far too low.

Laine seems like the most determined guy to get his money outside of Marner...and that's because Marner is talked about every freaking minute.

Meier had 66 points. Got him 6 mill for 4 yrs
Other guy got 1 yr for 1 mill. Neither are in the same RFA class of player. Meier's first good yr as well.

30 goals and 15 points in playoffs.

But when you look past the points he is a lot better. He could easily be a PPG player for the duration of the contract.

It is a steal.

Yeah well they probably told him sign it or be traded.

Jumbo Joe was waiting in the wings to take the same deal and once that money is gone its gone.

He is...but he still doesn't get the media to hype him up.

In fact I think the media has the opposite effect on him..He is better than the media suggests.

Nothing in the original post said anything about underpaid or not. It was about RFAs being unsigned and that the way it was being talked about made it seem like Marner was the only one, when in reality Aho is the only RFA that has signed. I was just saying that wasn't exactly true.

It's funny Boston went to game 7 of the finals and I think that's it for them. I can't see them being as good.

I think Leafs finsih ahead of Tampa. Montreal regresses, and Florida and Buffalo pass them.

I’ll take TB, what kind of bet? For fun of course
