miller is terrible in is own zone

mountour is gardiner, but with less offense so far

you should keep your posts shorter. longer posts reveal how little you know.

and you should watch a little more hockey. Clueless.

Point being..theyre both better than Risto

Yup. This is a big deal if they want to go all the way, for everyone on the team.

Also Nylander is better defensivley than Marner and Matthews

Nylander > Marner > Matthews is my order

why include the OHL?

AM/MM/ECHL
year 1" .084/ 0.79/ 0.69
year 2: 1.02/ 0.84/ 0.93
year 3 1.07/ 1.15/ 1.06

Career avg
AM - .966
MM - .929
Eichel - .905

So how shouldnt he based on ppg?
center/winger aside.

- Fakepartofme

uhhh...because being in the league at 19 vs. 20 is harder?

It is hard to ignore the results between the two. Marner is a stellar player, there's no doubt. Scoring Chances created / 60 doesn't do Marner the same justice as these numbers.

The one thing I will admit I struggle with the most is the assertion that Marner plays a 200ft game. I don't really think he does. I think Matthews gets a lot of credit for playing a good 200ft game as well, when I don't think he does yet either. Matthews shows signs of being able to do those fantastic things that Stone does, but he's not there yet consistently. He simply doesn't work hard enough on the back check. Neither does Marner -- consistently.

Marner gets put out on the PK, but it's not because he's good defensively inasmuch as it's because he's a disruptor. Like Kapanen. They accelerate very well. They are shifty, which allows them to close gaps a bit more and offensively capitalize upon gaffes the other team makes.

He's pretty good defensively and does play all the ice.
I agree he shouldnt get paid 11.5....but to say Marner is so far off AM is ridiculous.

Ugh, that was a terrible movie.. I just don't know how you relate teenage girls to Matthews/Marner? What's the similarity?

Every player is different and handles things differently at different ages.

Lets stick to the stats

What do you mean by "play all the ice"?
Are you implying Matthews will only play half or, at most 3/4's of the ice?

I still think the Nylander cap hit will be a steal in the coming years.

matthews proved more a younger age than marner.

marner has proven less than eichel at the same age.

marner is not a C or a big-time goal scorer.

aho and marner are far more comparable.

Everyone talks about Marner missing camp could cost them wins.. This may be true, but I think missing Hyman and Dermot will hurt more, and cost them games.
All the things Leafs nation talk about this team not having - size/grit/determination/, etc.. Hyman has all of it.

Im only talking about Marner.
Not suggesting AM doesnt because I said Marner does.
IMO marner plays a good 200ft game...similar to center....that was the point. (a lot of hockey people believe this as well)
He doesnt take face offs but can play a similar game.

I said he is 2 million off.

at 5 years he should be getting 9.5 million.

But its funny. You say its ridiculous, I say it is ridiculous to be paying Marner 4 million more than Nylander.

But that is an argument from a place we don't know. If you're suggesting Nylander will send AMs numbers into the stratosphere that may well be, but we have no indicator that that is the case. If anything Nylander benefits most likely, no the other way around.

Buston scored more p/60 with Kap than Willy 🤷🏻‍♂️

I love Zach Hyman, as much as any Toronto fan can love a bottom 6 player, but there is absolutely no way that Hyman being out is going to cost the Leafs more games than Marner, if it were an apples to apples situation.

Dermott is a d-man, and we need d-men, so I'll give you that one.

Marner plays a similar game to center and has scored more than eichel in the 1st 3 years.
Again, Marner is not that far off from Matthews.

200 feet is a (frank) ton easier when you only have a third of the ice North/South to worry about.

Wing is not the same as center.

Not at all.
