I’ve alway tend to be the optimist & try to be realistic on where the Canucks are at. Until the season begins i don’t see why not. What transpires is another topic & great for debate.

Thinking on our prospects...

I’m liking very much many of them & can see layers of when they are ready for the jump into the NHL. I am not saying all have an NHL future but them being on different time lines is encouraging. We are heading in the right direction & hopefully we get to the point we have the assets to sustain a winning culture. Essentially the day we have the depth to make key trades is not as far away as it once was. Trading away picks has been all we had & by most accounts it hasn’t gotten rave reviews & rightfully so.

Why is it that every time I poke my head in here, you guys are talking about the Leafs? A strong and powerful team like the Canucks should be comparing themselves with the Lightning, not the bottom feeders of the NHL!

I'm real.

The thing I dislike about the Benning regime is that from the moment he and Linden took over they have said one thing and done another.

You can't argue with the final results, the team is certainly better today than the one Tortarella left in a shambles.

The thing I like best about JB is that he said the team would draft and develop and that it would take time. At that point, I was set up to expect sucking no matter how often they told fans they were spreading hope of wins that needed it.

Van has an excess of NHL starting goaltenders and Leafs are always willing to pay too much for even fringe starters. That was all.

He actually said "we can turn this team around in a hurry"

He won a division title in year 2 remember.

Hard to argue against that. I will say it appears FA & TL had more involvement in the beginning than what Benning needed to do. I gave JB a pass for a couple years. I have not given him that the last couple years stating he had his marching orders but it’s all on him now. I still maintain Baumer is the weakest link. Newell Brown a close 2nd & no excuses with the new roster.
Green is on the hot seat as well even though i like him it’s results time.

That was the root of TL getting canned imo.
He sold a bill of goods to FA he couldn’t deliver. Reality set in & here we are now. JB has been pretty consistent in his tenure with some hiccups along the way to be expected.

Yeah it's results time, POs or new coach and GM. Benning will get all the credit for building a solid core and someone else will get the credit for bringing in the right coach.
