The point is that any player being traded has issues, or else they wouldn't be traded. It doesn't mean the player isn't worth trading for

You have a half-drank double-double from timmy hos, and I have a little bit of pure Ontario maple syrup. Sure, it's a few years old, but your pancakes are dry, and I could sure use a cup of coffee

Wanna trade?

Sure. Risto for Ceci. Tim hortons is nasty, for the record. Horribly over rated coffee.

I always thought ROR was over rated (still do) and even I will say they aren’t in the same league as players.

Ristolainen is and always has been a below average defensemen.

- sbroads24

Stats say ROR isnt overrated, both traditional and advanced.

For a low salary with one year term, sure. Is risto making 1.75 mil for just one more season? Keep in mind the teams going after shartkirk had to give up nothing to get him.

Everything about tim hortons is awful. Save for the random donut or tidbit.

No idea tbh.

I think Montour and Risto are redundant. They're both 2nd pair RHD, PP guys. As soon as we got Montour, I knew risto was gone.

I liked the guy. Enjoyed watching him play, but he's done here

- jcragcrumple

why is risto done here?

because they have 3 other RD in miller, montour, and joker?

many teams dress and play 4 RD and 2 LD with 1 of the RD playing LD

in the short term, bogo is not viable after this season

nelson is not a viable every day starter

borgen is not nhl ready

joker is still very flawed

best thing for the sabres is a focused risto in the line up short term and long term, not moving him for pennies on the dollar like the ror trade worked out

yeldon sucks because he was not a beast behind a crappy o line in jacksonville and had a fumble in a pre season game

he did out perform shady last season though despite mccoy having to also struggle with a bad o line

and he also beat the bills almost on his own in the playoffs in 2018

but he sucks because people say so

just like risto sucks because people say so

Are you obnoxiously screaming that while lacing it with profanity in a restaurant located in a different country? If so, thanks for the translation.

Sounds as if Risto has already checked his bags out of Buffalo.

I don't blame the guy to be honest.

Personally, I think he needs to be moved before camp begins, before his words and his situation becomes a distraction inside the locker room.

You don't want guys in your locker room that don't want to be here and, it certainly doesn't sound like Risto wants to be here any longer.

Nice knowing ya Risto.

This.
So much this.

IMO,
1, any team needs a mix of Dmen with varying skill sets...not just points production.
2, there are several measures of Dmen...point production is one element of a comprehensive evaluation model.

Taking 1 and 2 into consideration then, there isn't one singular model of a good/great Dman.
A team is best served by having Dmen who have different areas if expertise..then finding the best blend of D pairings.

Sabres are now moving aggressively towards having too many of the same skillset, they need to diversify a bit. I.e. find that Stay-at-home defensive stalwart for Dahlin's partner that will enable Dahlin to work his magic...a Samuelsson or Borgen type.

Shady is a hall of Famer, who didnt have a great year.

Yeldon was signed late, indicating not many teams prioritized him as a good free agent.

Jacksonvilles line proved fine with fournette running the ball.

Singletary is gonna be a star. Yeldon probably not on an NFL roster by the end of camp

He wants out.

Short term is:

Dahlin-Miller
McCabe-Montour
Scandella-Joker

When pilut gets back, he takes Scandella's spot. Bogo and Nelson can duke it out if there's an injury

Next year Borgen probably.

We need a RW/C. Botterill has made a big deal out of wanting players who want to be here. Risto doesn't, so cut him loose and get a player at a position of need. If we're just twiddling our thumbs this year waiting for Botterill's 10 UFAs to shake loose, might as well give joker the reps anyway

Good is relative. ROR was better than good, which is how you best described him. We found out that he was much bettet than that when placed in a situation conducive to winning.
- Michael Pachla

Yes, like having a roster full of decent players.
Imagine that would you...he excelled on a team loaded with talent.

His 1st year was terrific in St Louis....just like it was in Buffalo.
ROR was very good for the Sabres...just 3 years of I've gotta be better wore very thin.
Good on him.

winning cures everything

the fact that he is still here, solidifies he will probably be in the opening night line up

once that happens, it's how the players respond to the new coach and this goes for about 15 or so sabres
