This statement exactly is why I think Ovechkin is the greatest goal-scorer of all-time.
- BeadyEyedDouche

If he can keep a reasonable pace over the back-9 of his career, I'll agree.

He probably is anyway, but if he can keep it going for 5 more years, it'll be indisputable

Dahlins draft year .... a scout did he say even if he was a forward. He’s a generational talent and could play both
- Sabretooth9

Can he play 1RW and 1LhD at the same time?
I'd love to see those cross rink passes.
And if he can, ink him now to a $11m contract...hellava savings there

Several of the bickering bills asked to be traded

Polian didn't trade any

Then they started winning more and going deeper in the playoffs and bonded

Winning culture cures everything

I’m pretty sure you’re wrong here sir

Winnipeg
RH- Byfuglien, Trouba, Myers
LH- morrissey, kulikov, chiarot, morrow, beaulieu, niku
*that’s every defenseman who played more than 5 games for them

Looks like Tim Heed was the Sharks 4th RH guy & played in 37games
Karlsson only played in 53games though
So there may have been some overlap,
but that clearly wasn’t the norm for them

Carolina looks accurate from what i can tell

It looks very rare that NHL teams have the depth on the right side to do it
It’s definitely not “many teams”

*Gerbe was also wrong about Vegas
They only had 2 RH defensemen play for them all year (Miller & Engelland)

OF COURSE...
that doesn’t mean we can’t do it
We very well could

That would leave Pilut in Rochester again though,
or on the bench
Or maybe Botts plans on starting Jokiharju in Rochester?

It’s gonna be interesting to see how this plays out
Bc we do have an abundance of defensemen right now

If we just iced the 6 best, regardless of handedness...

Dahlin(L), Ristolainen(R), McCabe(L), Montour(R), Miller(R) are obviously sure things

Bogosian(R) & Pilut(L) apparently will miss the start of the season, but idk how much longer?

So that leaves Scandella(L) & Jokiharju(R) for opening night

And i better not forget Nelson(R),
but it seems to me that he’ll be the 7/8 guy & not really factor in much

Certainty gives us plenty of options 1 way or the other
But unless some guys are traded...
seems like Jokiharju & Pilut will be sent down when everyone is healthy

Top 4 for the Jets was buff trouba and Myers wasn't it?

I still can’t believe the Pegulas forced Botts to give $kinner 9x8, against JB’s forceful objections.

Botts also went on record and said they don't have to play three Rd and three LD after the Miller trade

Yeah, Montour is a LD* and Sheary is a RW*

I'm not sure why you keep trying to convince me of MY expectations.

Dahlin was awesome, but I was thought he would score more goals.

I expect close to 20 this year

It’s a question I’m not trying to change your opinion, I’m just wondering how you came to it.

Thought this was a message board for just such things.

Depends how u look at it

Myers was 4th on the Jets in icetime,
but none of their RH defensemen were playing on the left side
They still had 3RH guys in the lineup, & 3LH guys

There wasn’t a situation where 2 RH guys were regularly paired together,
like we’d have to do if we wanted to played Risto, Miller, Montour & either Bogo/Jokiharju

It’s possible we could do this of course
But i wonder if any of them would be comfortable on the left side?
I doubt any of them have played their off side much at all except for the PP

I think we see LH guys on the right side regularly just bc there’s generally so many more guys at the position that shoot LH

Seems pretty rare for the opposite to occur

Well, I mean sure.

But I was also told all the big hockey trades come in July and August, so there is that.

I actually do think there is a morsel of opportunity for the anticipated Risto Trade to come in Sept....assuming Connor and Laine are signed by Sept 15th or so.

One of the reasons trouba wanted out of Winnipeg was they were playing him on the left

Referring to the notion that any perceived misstep by Botterill was in actuality, an order from ownership.

I don’t think that’s true sir
Byfuglien was their top RH guy
That’s where the icetime issue came from
Trouba wanted to be on the top PP, the top pair, etc
He played on the right side though

He was even on the 3rd pair behind Myers for a bit

He played about 5% of his time with another RD last year. They matched lefty/righty almost exclusively.

It was Myers playing the left
My mistake
It failed

Articles blame it on his size stating it would need to be a smaller d man trying to make the switch
