Doughy and Pietrangelo not on the list?
- bikeguy99

Last year, speaking in relative terms (as his team was awful), Drew Doughty went over a cliff.

his possession numbers dropped 6%

his pts dropped 15

his +/- had a difference of 57......I don't put a ton of stock into +/- but when it changes by that much, it has to raise your eyebrows a little.

I think he will bounce back a bit, but you can't look at the season he had last year and say he's a top 5 guy. Doughty is great when his team is great, but when they aren't he falls off significantly. Look at Karlsson as an example, when he was in Ottawa and they were a tire fire, he was still great.

Doughty doesn't belong on this list at this point in time......you can make a much better case for Pietrangelo

Let's just say that if you didn't look at the names and you just compared the numbers for the last three years of Jake Gardiner and Drew Doughty, you'd denounce the ability to measure performance in hockey and call me an idiot.

Probably because 1 guy plays top pair on a poop team, and the other guy gets easier matchups on a really good team. But we can pretend Gardiner’s better due to skill.

In Mr. Tanner's analytic world, everything is equal. Issues like that don't matter. Every player is able to be compared.

It would be different if he wasn't a Leaf fan and has watched how Babcock deploys guys, you'd think if watching he'd ease up on some of the "QOC" "QOT" don't matter, but c'est la vie.

I have a tough time with Karlsson at #1. I kind of like my defensemen to you know, play a little defense every now and then.

When his team scores it’s because he is awesome, when the other team scores...unlucky.
