At this point it would make my life if the pens made another cup run while JJ plays every single game and scored the Stanley cup clinching goal in overtime. I know he sucks but the constant discussion of it by low life’s makes me want to see him succeed. In 5 years the stereotypical yelling hockey dad is going to be replaced by the Ryan Wilson’s. They track there kids corsi and use psychological and cyber bullying on them when they are above 50%. Not just call them a worthless wussy when they (frank) up.

And it's usually conservatives who make broad incorrect statements like that. Thankfully I sit in the middle and watch both sides say dumb poop to each other.

I’m a big fan of Inslee, but I know he has no shot.

Warren is great.

Warren is great at what? If you thought Clinton was bad against Trump, she would be worse. She always looks like she is yelling at you when she speaks. Trump/Warren debates would be F'ing spectacular tv.

I have no interest in a one issue candidate who’s one issue is climate change. Climate change is real, granted. Humans have caused it, granted. But the green new deal is economically stupid, will jack up the price of energy, and has a bunch of really useless poop that will cost a bunch of tax payer money like retrofitting every building to be weatherized when there’s a bunch of studies out there that show that weatherization doesn’t conserve all that much energy to begin with. Clean energy will one day become economically viable and we’re heading in that direction. Things like a carbon tax can help get us there, but going all in on making fossil effectively illegal will (frank) with prices and jobs way too much. When you’re talking about a major economic sector that you’re trying to transition away from, you always always phase it out instead of deleting it cold turkey or else you shock the economy.

I was warming up to Warren a bit until she released her trade plan, which is egregious. It’s basically Trump’s trade plan but more well thought out and different motives backing it. If you like the tariffs trade war that’s going on right now I guess I can see why someone would like Warren. She’s also in the executive order gang, and any candidate who explicitly says they’ll use executive orders liberally if congress isn’t getting their policy agenda done is no friend of mine. This includes Bernie, Harris, and Booker. Pete’s in favor of a bunch of poop I don’t like but at least he’s promoting constitutional amendments which is the correct avenue to pursue if you want to do something radical that’s not congruent with the Constitution as it stands right now.

@Feds: Yang has interesting ideas that will be relevant in like two decades when we approach full automation, but we’re not there yet. I also don’t think Yang the person is cut out for the office of the presidency and has hinted that he’d have a pretty soft FP towards China which is probably not good. I like to discuss his ideas in hypotheticals, but for this specific race he’s pretty irrelevant.

All the 70ish year old candidates seem like lunatics to me.

I think a lot of Yangs ideas are necessary before we get to the breaking point of the economy.

Yeah I mean you gotta be proactive but I think that specific breaking point is still a ways away and there are other inflection points that need to be addressed now. Like we gotta deal with the rise of China, go back to free trade before we start to really feel what tariffs do, criminal justice reform, end the forever wars, and host of other things before we start to think about something that’s still like 20 years away.

Yang has mentioned some solid criminal justice stuff and the release of all low level non violent drug offenders. Also I think he understands how economies work much better than other candidates and would realize how terrible tariffs are. Also I think saying 20 years away is a bit naive. We will likely see significant impacts much sooner than that.

From automation? If we jump on the robotics train in any meaningful way yeah the timeline can jump up a lot but as of now we’re pretty behind the curve and there isn’t the R&D push in America to get robotics up to that level like we’re seeing in Asia. Part of that is because our politicians are still trying to sell manufacturing jobs and automation is bad for that, which is a big obstacle that I don’t see getting removed anytime soon. Step one is selling the American people on jobs not coming from manufacturing anymore. When that’s looking politically possible at all we can talk about the implications of full automation.
