Your exact words "term and clauses he attached along with his age make Seabrook toxic."
- paulr

Yeah that's exactly what I said . I'm done arguing with you, it's your problem not mine if you don't like the word I used.

I said everything I needed to say, and I'm not about to argue semantics here , just because you didn't like the worth used.
You can use any worth you wish to use , however the bottom line here is Seabrook contract which represents him is toxic period,

Toews has four years left on his deal - he won’t be 35 until the end of its last season (April, 2023).

I would guess he would be an effective to excellent player for all four years.

and maybe one asked to step to a 3rd line role as the clock ticks.

I am fairly certain the contracts of Kane and Toews get un-coupled when the 4 yrs. end, and Toews will have to settle for less than Kane numbers, if one or both are packaged elsewhere...

If anyone is interested, here's a link to the schedule for next months Prospect tournament in Traverse City.

https://www.centreice.org...6-nhl-prospect-tournament

Anyone seen a Hawks roster for this tourney? Also, I would appreciate if anyone knows a streaming site for the games.

- boilermaker100

The streaming is most likely right off of each team's website LIVE, and other years, when I tried finding them via other sites, like a Canadian team that they would be playing,I had no luck b/c I think are under some goofy restrictions.

I may be incorrect bt in the past It was best for me to attempt to watch live on Hawk site, or I spent wasted time accessing them.

I think both stick around after their contracts are up, but I agree that their contracts will look different.

I did a little tinkering with the 20/21 roster assuming a 2M cap increase to a 83.5M limit. This line up totals about 81.9M.

Crawford, Gus and Koekkoek not re-signed. Replaced by Lehner, Boqvist and Mitchell. Smith bought out. Saad traded for pick/prospect before his NTC kicks in next summer to gain some cap space.

Money is freed up to extend next year's RFA's Cat, Strome, Kubalik, and Caggiula. Boqvist and Mitchell replace Gus and Koekoek on the roster. Lankinen or Delia become the backup to Lehner. Dach, Nylander and Entwistle (or two other forward prospects) make the team.

Maybe pick up a cheap veteran UFA 4th line type for some stability since there will already be 3 young forwards in the lineup.

LW Kubalik, Dominik $1,500,000
C Toews, Jonathan $10,500,000

From a cap perspective I'm not worried about the team's future. Stan has set the team up well to re-sign the team's two most promising young forwards (no Ogi, I am not referring to Nylander). By the team the current non-NHL prospects are sniffing their 2nd NHL contract a number of current NHL contracts will have expired or are tradable. The real question is, can the young talent in the pipeline develop into legit NHL level talent and elevate the team back into contention.

Yeah... read it in context. He is talking about Seabrook being toxic in the trade market. He wasn't saying Seabrook is toxic in the lockeroom or as a teammate. The term and cap hit on Seabrook's contract make him a toxic asset in the trade market.

Your claim that Seabs was the #2 or #3 on Hawks is a joke man. Seabs was horrible last year. Couldn't stay on his feet, zero explosiveness, no first step, and didn't bring much physically. Gustafsson was better defensively than Seabs last year.

Yes time will tell. At least the prospect pool - Kurashev, Saarela, Entwistle, Hagel, Nylander, and the young defenseman - looks deeper and more talented than a couple of years ago.

Where are you getting the “Stan offered a 3rd overall pick and couldn’t trade Seabrook” stuff? Have never seen that reported anywhere.

Also, I think you’re unclear on the definition of toxic. Is the contract a poison pill in terms of it being tough to swallow for fans and possibly even Hawk management?

Sure, but I’ve also never read anywhere that Seab’s is some sort of clubhouse cancer due to the contract and declining level of play, which, and feel free to correct me, which is how you’re describing the situation. It’s just not the case.

From the pool of prospects I think Boqvist, Dach and Mitchell may be the team's only blue-chippers (to at least make the NHL).

Beaudin, Krys, Sikura, Nylander, Kuraschev and Kubalik have a decent shot but may amount to nothing more than Hayden or Johnson.

While we may be hopeful, the like of Entwhistle, Hagel, Saarela (both), Soderlund, Wise, Gilbert, Carlsson, Fortin, and Slavin are long-shots at best.

If the team had the final say, I’d say your right, but since ultimately it’s up to the player, there’s really no way to predict that. What’s to say Kane doesn’t elect to go home to Buffalo for a few years in the twilight of his career, or Toews to Winnipeg?

I wouldn’t say it’s likely, but it certainly shouldn’t shock anyone if it happens.

The boss is doping an upgrade on all the sports on DraftSite.com and currently there is an error that shows the Blackhawks (and every team's) selection prior to and trades being made.

While yo can it might be fun to see who they would have picked had the not traded those original picks.
Go draft site, then

https://www.draftsite.com/nhl/chicago/75/

NHL draft history

u can do this with each team and see who traded picks poorly...while the site upgrade gets completed.

- rpeters01

Exactly.

Months ago I swore the 12/17 pair will cost $13-15MM AAV to retain. I stick to that, and if anything I think it will be the upper end, as the market is and will continue to push salaries even higher.

Neither will sign until next summer, accept bridge deals, or offer any homer discount.

Salaries for top tier talent never get lower with time - only higher.

The Hawks are currently set up to have $60.5MM in cap tied up in just eight players for 20/21:

Toews, Kane, Dcat, Strome, Saad, Seabrook, Keith, #1 Goalie (likely going to be $6MM).

If the cap is say $85MM in 20/21, that leaves $24.7MM to sign fifteen more roster spots, for an average AAV of $1.64MM for those players.

$12.5MM committed to Maatta, DeHaan and Murphy
$8.2MM in Shaw, Smith and Dach

Assuming they keep those guys, that leaves $4MM in cap for nine more roster spots AND a backup goalie. A fair amount of existing contracts will have to be moved in value for value deals that result in net less salary.

They may have done well to put together a "playoff team" this season, but they, again as I have been saying for a long time, are not out of cap hell. Further, given the numbers it is clear Stan will have to depend upon being able to move more than a contract or two in 20/21 just to get under the cap.

Agreed. I had no problem trading Anisimov if it freed up significant cap space, but for the return they got I would have rather kept him. Not enough cap savings to justify the hole it created IMO.

It was well reported regarding Chicago and Vancouver, 3rd overall pick , seabrook was willing to waive his NMC for Vancouver and only Vancouver.

I never said Seabrook personally was toxic , I was crystal clear his play, age , term ,salary make him toxic to any team regarding a trade, nothing about his character .

People around here pick and chose speech they disagree with and over think and analyze words or try to put words into other people's mouths .

I don't care what you what you want to call his contract , salary , decline in play etc but let's be honest here , don't read into or over think and analyze my words.

Regarding Strome: if he has the year we expect his last two ELC years will be nearly identical to Brandon Saad's last two ELC years. We all know Saad pulled $6M five years ago and wasn't a Center. Call Strome ~$7 x something next contract... I think $15M is exactly where Strome and DeBrinkat come in.

Regarding Lehner: Elite goalies in their prime are ~$10 now, sorry but true. If he's as good as advertised $8 x something will be a discount. Anyway it won't be $6M it will be $0M before it's $6. That would mean something went wrong he sucked or had problems...

I was being VERY conservative on Lehner. Probably too much so - granted.

Forgot to mention Strome can earn up to $2.475MM in performance bonuses this season. Potentially even less cap.

My biggest fear is that no one will do SB any favors when he needs to dump salaries next summer. I'm ready for him having to give up valuable prospects to move some of them.
