Isles were 1 point from winning the Metro last year.. fyi. You guys must really think Val was a stud if we are going to suck this year.
- niteislander

Nobody is saying Isles will suck this year. The offense showing nothing against the Canes in the playoffs is a huge concern. Do you really think this current roster is good enough offensively to go on a big playoff run?

Isles boards are flat out painful to read. All you doom and gloom guys have to be kidding me.... OH NO WE DIDN'T SIGN A GUY FOR $4.5 MILL a year who has never played in the NHL... WTF is LOU DOING?!?!?!?!

Team was 5th in the league in points last year. They have Lee who has scored over 100 goals the last 3 years signed. Brock who has scored over 100 goals the last 5 years and is good for at least 20 a year. Eberle 20 goals a year, Barzal is 22 and will score at least 20, Beauv is 22 and will score at least 20, They have a core of young D-men and D-prospects that will continue to get better every year. ... and they have 3 first round picks that are fighting for a spot. Their 4th line Center scored 20 goals last year, but somehow the Rangers have more depth at forward?

IF and this is a big IF Lou doesn't add a top 6 forward before October this team is still better than the Rangers and the Devils... by a lot.

You cannot just look at regular season numbers. What did these same players do against a real defense like the Canes in the playoffs? Most playoff teams will not have a lousy defense like the Pens last year. If you are not concerned with the Isles top 6 during a tough playoff series I'm not sure what to tell you.

LOL.. they swept the friggin Penguins for crying out loud. They were 5th in the league. .... the only thing that sucked on the whole team was the Power Play. You don't think this coaching staff will fix that?

This is not the same Pens team. That defense was horrible even Bailey showed something during that series. Casey had 20 goals during the regular season and 0 during the playoffs. Lee's offense also fell off. Isles were not even a great offense during the season. The playoffs against real defensive talent is different than the regular season. As great as this coaching staff is, they need more help and an improved roster.

Some of you guys just had the Rangers making the playoffs and the Isles not even getting in? Really? You think these 22 year old kids on their second year with this coaching staff is going to get worse? You don't think guys like Pulock will score more? Toews will not be more comfortable in this system and score more?

I think you guys are all nuts. This team always had the talent. They finally have the coaching and proved it last year just how talented they are.. I am so sick of everyone on these boards constantly blowing the Rangers and everything they do.. .They have 1 very good line... IF their 18 year old rookie is as good as they hope.

Meanwhile the Isles signed all their UFA's they wanted and all are suicidal b/c we did not sign a kid who weighs 165 lbs and led the KHL in points. Kovulchuk led the KHL the year before last year .. fyi. Let's see how he does when he weaves in front of net and Boychuk sends him into next week.

So true, anybody could have beaten the Pens.
No credit to the Islanders for that 1st round series win. Means nothing.

I never mentioned the Isles missing the playoffs. I just do not see a long playoff run with the current roster. Panarin and Kakko were huge adds for the Rangers to go along with the rest of their forward talent. I'm not picking the Rangers for a long playoff run either but the Rangers and Devils should be much improved and they are division rivals.

The Isles have talent but they need talent in the top 6. Do you trust Bailey in the top 6 again against a team like the Canes in the playoffs? Hopefully Beau improves but his is still unproven as a sure fire top 6 talent. Isles fans have real concerns and they are not making complaints just to complain.

No idea why you like to add things? I never posted anyone could beat the Pens. Were you honestly impressed with them and that defense they threw out against the Isles? Why then did the Isles struggle so much against the Canes? Why are we just celebrating 1st round wins all the time and just glossing over losing in the 2nd round again?

Is anything I posted not true? You think the Pens D was anything close to the Canes or other playoff teams? I gave the Isles full credit for beating the Pens in other posts at the time. Does not change the fact the Pens were very flawed on D. The Isles offense showed their flaws against the Canes.

POs are the POs. The Islanders won a first round series after losing their star forward.
Give them some credit and stop the belly aching about no trades because last year we made trades and FA signings and they all sucked. Let’s see were the team is after training camp and preseason and grab the pitchforks and torches then.
It worked out last year.

Martin, Fili, and Leo!

You are obsessed with 3rd and 4th line players. No wonder you do not get the importance of top 6 and top 4 D. Isles would have won all those Cups without Bossy and Trotts and Potvin.

I love the reaction to something that lameriello did or didn’t do followed by the complete, total, overrreaction/description of what was said like this is. Nobody reacted this way. Not one person so just stop.

Nope! Winning one round is the Isles Cup and we should just be happy with that and not pay attention to what happened against the Canes or any other 2nd round loss.

Funny thing is NOBODY is “getting on” Lou. Chiefs posting we didn’t get Gusev and a couple people saying we haven’t added anything to our forward group. That’s it and those are non debatable facts. Everyone follows these posts with “there’s still time”, “maybe Lou will add or make a trade”, to try and curb the lunatic population from flipping out but to no avail. Nobody is saying lameriello sucks, fire him, I’m committing suicide, or anything remotely close to that. The “optimists” just love fighting, period. 😂
