Take out Mitts. Imo, favors should cost them not us.
- Michael Pachla

Well sure
If they’d do Risto + then sign me up
Just didn’t really think that would be possible
Figured they’d want a really good young center back if they’re moving Point

FIFY

The NFL doesn't have the market cornered on pieces of sh¡t. They just happen to make the news.

Why do people want to offer up McCabe?

We need to keep of few of the prospects that have actually made to transition to steady NHLer. We did that too often in the past, specifically with our D prospects. Brayden McNabb is a good case in point, and look at him now anchoring the Knights D corp. in a shut-down type role.

We need to keep more guys like this, that might not be Dahlin-esque, but nonetheless an absence of them equates to the very porous D we've seen for the past 5+ seasons.

McCabe needs to stay, in my opinion.

What are you hearing? Besides that weak twitter message from a random guy that he thinks Shady will be traded to Chargers.

Me too. Doesn't Buffalo have enough of their own? However, if the Sabres do something like that, I won't be putting Mitts or a top prospect in the deal
- Michael Pachla

If Tampa decides to move Point (or another good player), they’ll have multiple suitors

We can either be willing to give up a good amount to get him, or someone else will

I definitely think this team needs all the toughness it can get. And McCabe isn't going to break the bank, so I agree. Also interested in seeing this team with an actual defensive system this year.

I don't think there's anyone here who doesn't like McCabe. It's just looking at the D and knowing they need to make a move. Miller, Montour, Dahlin, Pilut, and Joker are all recent JB acquisitions. Bogo is injured and hard to move. Hunwick has no value. Nelson is just serviceable depth. Suddenly, you're left talking about Risto, McCabe, and Scandella (probably tough to move as well).

IMO, if they don't agree to a deal before his arb ruling, his days here are numbered.

List of recent Stanley Cup Winners:

2019 : STL - Binnington ~ $650k salary
2018 : Washington - Holtby ~$6.1m salary
2017 : Pittsburgh - Murray ~$902k salary
2016 : Pittsburgh - Murray ~$902k salary
2015 : Blackhawks - Crawford ~$6m salary
2014 : Kings - Quick ~$5.8m salary
2013 : Blackhwaks - Crawford ~$2.66m salary
2012 : Kings - Quick ~$1.8m salary
2011 : Bruins - Thomas ~$5m salary
2010 : Blackhawks - Niemi ~$827l salary

So anything over $6 seems to be a large mistake.

- Lilroot9

Crawford at $2.66M and Quick at $1.8M are the only value contracts that aren't ELCs. So in reality you have a very short window, have to get extremely lucky, or you can't give them a lot of money.

Also the cap ceiling in 13-14 was $64M, Quick was 9% of the cap that year, Vas's new deal has him at 11.66% of this year's cap. If the cap increases next year his percentage hit will go down a bit.

McCabe is the only semi-competent LHD on the team. I think he's safe. It's either Risto or Scandella for a trade imo.

Probably right, but I get why his name comes up. Curious to hear the team and player arb requests.
