Pass. I like Point a lot, but we shouldn't be giving up on Mitts who could be as good.

I agree. I like Point, but Mitts could be just as good and his next contract will be way more team friendly (it should since his points / production is way less).

Seems baseless to simply say, well, they won cause their goalie was cheaper than 6M

It’s obviously a great idea to get guys signed as low as possible
But signing your best players also equates to winning
And u don’t win a Cup without GREAT play from your goalie

Sure...
we could build a great, deep team around UPL
But that team around him will lead to lots of wins,
+ really good stats
And that will equal a big contract

Again...
many, many ways to build a contender

I think i like the direction we are headed (finally)

NHL News/Rumors
@puck_report2
BREAKING: Nikita Gusev has been traded to the New Jersey Devils. Hearing the return to the Golden Knights is a 2021 2nd Round Pick and a 2020 3rd Round Pick.

Not saying it is 100% (because it seems to be a rumor), just sharing what I have seen.

Yeah, i get it
Thanks for sharing

Sucks that it wasn’t us

Trading Mitts for Point isn’t “giving up” on Mitts
Gotta give to get
Point is a Top10 Center in the league

And yeah...
I’m sure Tampa would still like to get rid of guys like Palat & Kilorn who make 4-5mil or so
And they have a lot of guys coming up that they’re gonna have to pay
Cirelli, Sergachev & Cernak lead the list

I still think Mitts can be a very good 2C
Could still even be 1C quality eventually
So yeah,
It’s risky trading him now

But Point is a Top10 Center in the league imo
And i just can’t project that level of development for Mitts

The difference in salaries could be huge though
Especially if we extend Mitts to a long term deal after this season & he does develop to a top25 caliber center
But that kind of potential is what it would take to get a guy like Point

I can see both sides of the debate here
Just happen to really like Point myself

Sure, but even going forward

They’re gonna have to pay to dump guys like Palat, Kilorn, etc
And hope they can bring up kids to replace them & get productive play- especially defensively, which is usually tough for young players
