Last year is the only year they weren’t pushed up against the cap. They will be this year. And all those other signings were done to try and make the playoffs, just like these ones. Are these “better” players? Probably. - 1970vintage
Which signings...? Wasn't LE the last attempt signing for PO. That failed and the signings since were only to tread water to develop the young core. They will deal with LE.
The recent moves of last season and summer was as a bubble team to have a legitimate chance at PO. Its part of aiding in the development of the young core being formed. Given their lotto luck its a better way. |

I was of the belief that the team knew they weren’t making the playoffs and that Beagle, Roussel and Schaller were brought as you stated to aid with development.
I am a fan of both Roussel and Beagle and have no issues with both contracts, Schaller didn’t workout and is history. But there are some here that are vehemently opposed to Beagle and his contract and use that as a comparison to Eriksson as over paying on money and term. |

Every year playoffs have been the goal, and the FA signings have been the fuel to make that happen. It only worked once.
It will probably work again. |

Are you saying they didn’t over pay on money and term?
Believe them or not, but every media member in the lower mainland has reported that the Canucks “had” to go higher and longer to get players to sign. |

Yes I do believe that is what I’m saying.
I could give a rats ass what lower mainland media has to say, honestly I do not listen to them, I will not buy into the BS, chicken little scenarios. And that goes as well for the Ian McIntyre types, swallow anything the team does as righteous.
My opinion is Beagle is a beast, a major part of Washington winning the cup, 3 million for 4 years, seriously, is not a detriment to the club. |

He’ll figure it out before october, that’s all there is to it. It’s a non-issue. Whatever move he does make will be an interesting topic though. The hens will be a cluckin’ |

True they never stated otherwise. Though in reality they were rebuilding. |

Benning said last year they did not think they are a playoff team - VANTEL
Yes that would be his assessment. Though the "goal" wasn't in a letter to fans about tanking moves. So those who wanted those kind of moves would point to playoffs as the "goal" even though it wasn't the reality. |
