I would be willing to bet anyone here that for the next three years Canucks will be Cap compliant on opening days. - VANTEL

I literally have no idea what you are talking about? Where did you get 10 million from? - Codes1087
I might have posed it as a number a week ago when capdeniers were saying it’s no big deal. It was just a number thrown against a wall, not realistic expectation. It’s the narrative to take something that someone says out of context, blow it up into a huge deal and then complain about it.

The Canucks are (frank)ed. They can’t sign Brock unless we trade Elias |

No offense, but this is dumb. All 31 teams will be compliant. The question is what it will cost teams to get there. There is no other option but to be compliant... |

So you are saying it is dumb to worry about a cap that they have to make. See no cap problem .

The goal is playoffs. Given that’s the goal, it would pretty (frank)ing stupid to not spend to the cap 🤷♂️ |

I am more concerned about if we need to send down Biega or Schaller this year.

How did that work the past 5 years? Do you think spending as much as possible is a guarantee? I applause an owner who’s willing to spend the money, I despise a GM who wastes that money with very little reward. |

They’ll do it anyway (spend to the cap) see the last few seasons and results. This team, this year the results will surprise many. |

One could say at this point, that they can stick handle through it without taking a penalty. |

How do you know the results this year? How do you know he wasted this years cap.
I agree in years past they wasted money big time.

We didn’t spend to the cap last year and we weren’t close this year...until they made major adds to attempt to achieve their goal. |

TO are 3 mil over the cap and have to sign Marner . No one seems worried there . We are 5 mil in the black and we have problems |

I don’t know how this year will turn out. I’m sure they will be better than last year. I’m not convinced they will be good enough to make the playoffs, but that doesn’t really matter to me.
I’m just saying, yes, spend the money, but be smart about it. There are several contracts that weren’t smart. Will they be able to move off them? Sure, but what else will it cost them to do that? To me, that’s the cap issue. I have no doubt they will navigate this problem. |

Last year is the only year they weren’t pushed up against the cap. They will be this year. And all those other signings were done to try and make the playoffs, just like these ones. Are these “better” players? Probably. |

Canucks have some nice options coming in the pipe. Cheaper nicer options. They did some serious house cleaning this year . I think it will continue into next year and the one after. |

Ahh the good ole pressed up against the cap discussion, I missed this as a mandatory topic in the other thread, I’ll have to make an edit.
Carry on boys. |
