No but he is still a potential top 6 guy. 27-28 Is your prime years. If his peak is 40-50 its an absolute steal at 3 mill AAV . I wouldnt go as far and say its the best signing of the year but it is good - xShoot4WarAmpsx

Meh - Decent signing.
Pretty unexciting. Sissons is a dime a dozen player.
Whatever. |

This, all the way. 23-25 are considered prime goal scoring years in today's NHL. |

Locking up a bottom 6 forward who gets outshot while he is on the ice for 7 years.

Ek, I was hoping you could do a post of the 5 LEAST desperate teams using the same criteria. I think it would be super interesting. |

It’s the TERM! This contract may be great for the next 1-3 years but what about in year 4 when he’s 30 years old? You can’t really believe he’s going to be putting up 40+ points then do you? And that’s only the middle year of his contract! - Ray97
30 years old is still young..... players dont decline significantly until their late 30s unless they are powerforwards. |

This is similar to last year on a fantasy hockey board. There was a trade someone posted and it involved Seguin for Aho. Everyone favoured Seguin saying it was a veto worth trade. I said Aho would out produce Seguin this year and they all laughed and 60-65 games late Aho was above Seguin.
Im not saying anything crazy like he's going to be a top line winger but I guarantee he will hit the 40 point mark this season IF he is healthy |

So with more ice time you dont think that 30 points could turn into 40? Worst case he is a 3rd line player. How many teams have players on the 3rd line under 3 mill AAV that arent on ELC? - xShoot4WarAmpsx
One of the biggest mistakes people make is that if you just give a player more ice time, his point totals will automatically increase. What's also possible is that the player remains the same 30 point or lower player that is less effective due to diminishing returns with more ice time.

The story of next summer will be who will offer sheet Clarkson.
Can't wait. |
|
|
|
If he could really play on the top 6, then why would you give him bottom 6 minutes ?

Hey Ek. Have your sources given you any more tidbits about a 1-year offer sheet for Marner? Or is there more to the story that you can't reveal. Just asking because the Leafs made a trade today, which it doesn't seem was in your rumour chart, but the trade gives them some more cap flexibility. So maybe the teams considering a 1-year offer sheet have to move fast before the Leafs simply sign Marner themselves. |

Do you guys remember when Colton Sissons was signed?
One of the best signings of the summer. |
|
|
|
Sissons is a nice defensive/depth player for sure.
Nothing in his history or statistical profile suggests that he's capable of 40+ points, much less holding down a "top line roll". He scored a hat trick once. That's about it. He's no Brad Marchand.
Ek came up with this hot take for clicks and engagement. Don't fall for it. - Tomahawk

This is absolutely nothing like that.
And he might hit 40 this year, sure. Great. It'll most likely be a fluke, and you'll have a roster spot locked up for a near replacement level player for another 6 years after that. |
