You explain to me why having cap space is so great? - manvanfan
No thanks, knowledge is power and I’m clearly in the lead and not wanting to give it up |

I’ve always been a huge ROR fan and was one of few people wanting him. Same with Evander Kane who has put it all together and is a wrecking ball now. I still like the team though. I also really like that JB had the cohones to gamble big on podz. - neem55
I wouldn't exactly call k-pod a gamble. He was 3oa for quite awhile, even 2oa for a bit. Of course you take him |

And to think we could've had Konecny over Boeser and Glass over Pettersson....or better yet Vilardi over EP!!! - Brooks_Light
Benning had nothing to do with those picks!!

Yes he did. |

The Boeser pick was great, and it was Benning seeing that he could shoot the puck, great pick. I never dismissed that. I’ve just seen Brackett be way more in the spotlight when it comes to answering questions about why they picked who they did.
From what I’ve read, Brackett, Delorme and Gradin were the biggest proponents for picking Pettersson. - Pacificgem
Oh you can clearly see Bracketts work littered over the past few drafts - he's a very well spoken/intelligent guy from anything I've ever seen of him. So our next GM errrrrrr???? |

He was a part of the London team that won back to back OHL Cups (and in the finals he scored the game-winner with a second remaining) but they didn't win the memorial cup either time. He was always a beast. I like how he can score from everywhere, off the rush, down low on the PP, screening/tip ins, buries a lot of garbage/rebounds, got a pretty deadly shot in the slot as well - now if only Petey could teach him the one timer. Bo is exactly the kinda guy you need to win a cup. - Brooks_Light
Yes bo is that player. I also tend to think he'd embrace the captaincy and become unreal |

- LordHumungous
Yeah I have no idea exactly who made the final decision on those picks but that's not really the point - it's can you imagine if Gabe Fawking Vilardi belonged to us instead of EP...??
Of course it works both ways - could've had Thakchuk over Juolevi but Boeser, EP, Hughes are clearly huge wins and the core of this team for years to come. Podkolzin, Hoglander are really exciting too. |

Cap space not used is a bit pointless.
1.You can take on bad contracts and get picks or prospects.
2. Sign free agents. Make your team better. Just as much risk as taking on picks or prospects that may never turn out.
Either way you are going to use your cap space.
You could trade those free agents signings later after you are done with them if they are good and get picks or prospects for them.
Edit: or do nothing with it and get neither better or extra picks or prospects ever. We better save the cap space for sure. |

WTF cares what some dumbass that sits back and has nothing better to do than criticize positive moves and play with himself while doing so.
Ohh Dimitri does like Benning is spending to the cap, quick lets start a tweet and see how many dumbasses will repost and start a freak fest.
Well looks like he got at least one dumbass,

Seen inside the war room. it's a group effort on just about every prospect. Identify the best players at that time and pick them. |

Why does voicing his opinion make him sound like Trump? He hasn’t offended any minority groups.
In the ‘21/‘22 season on the books are:
Eriksson 6
Horvat 5.5
Miller 5.25
Ferland 3.5
Rousel 3
Beagle 3
Myers 6
That’s only 7 players under contract for $32.25m add Boeser at 7? 39.5. Add Petey and Hughes at 10 each? 59.5. If the cap goes way, way up to 90m, they have 20 to sign:
5 forwards
6 defenders
2 goalies
They will have some challenges to overcome. - 1970vintage
Hughes will not be signing at 10 mill, thats a chicken little scenario. Given only TWO defensemen currently make over 9 and 3 over 8.25.....all have earned it, youre dreaming.
IF Hughes turns out to be the player we hope he will be, I'm willing to bet Pacificgem's virginity that he won't sign for more than 7 on a bridge.
And your math is sh ite.....90-59.5 is 30.5 not 20.........30.5 is a lot of money to spend on 8 players especially if 2 or 3 of those are league minimum or ELC's.....see Gaudette, Lind, Podkolzin....

Off the top of my head I cant think of what the most expensive Dman signing coming off an ELC contract is.....??? maybe OEL 6X30
I would imagine when MacAvoy signs his contract in the next few weeks/month, it should be a similar barometer to estimate what Hughes will cost - but still its tough to see that far in the future - so many variables.

you are correct, I carried the 1 (59.5->70...
My bad.
We’ll see how Hughes does the next couple years. All this posturing by the current RFA’s makes me think the incoming superstars will be even more expensive.
I still think Benning (he will get a contract extension) will have his challenges fitting everyone in. Unless Joulevi, Woo, Rathbone and a few others step in and really look like top 6 D he’s going to have to go shopping for some UFA’s. |

If your team isn't running into a bit of a cap issue, you probably aren't doing a very good job as a GM. |
