We heard that about Dahlen as well, let these kids simmer.
- VanHockeyGuy

I have no idea why so many thought he was NHL ready because of a few pre season games. He never even made it to the SHL.

I know all that .

A normal kid does not drop out of U18 tournaments with the blessing of the drafted teams GM so that he can train hard. This is what has me raising my eyebrow.

Most kids would want the international experience, this kid is too focused on training.

Didn't think you could count that high.

Glad you read further and saw that I never said he wasn't a top 10 player in the league just not 3rd.

Wow, who's a jaunty little female dog this morning.

The tone of your prose was one of disagreement. You even went as far as proving his wrongness by listing all the players you believe to be better. Had you agreed with him, you would have said something like "that's fair, I'd put him tenth behind these guys".

Excellent usage of words in a sentence . I told you that word of the day calendar would pay off.

Don't always be so sensitive Vintsy.

Wow. James Tanner writes that Matthews is at least the 3rd best player in the league.
- manvanfan

I think he's top 10. Name 10 that are undisputedly better than him.
-Golfing

Right now in no order
Kucherov
McDavid
Crosby
Bergeron
Mackinnon
Barkov
Point
Marner
P. Kane

We could dispute this all day long but he's not the best defensive centre, he's not the highest scoring player, not the highest goal scorer. Could look at all the fancy stats in the world.

Those are the players I would put ahead of him.
-manvanfan

Do you see how that worked? He asked me to name 10 undisputed ahead of him.
I didn't argue anything with him at all. I named the players I would put ahead of him. He ended up being 10th. That's fine, he's just not the 3rd best player in the league. I didn't say before where I thought he wasn't top 10. He assumed I thought he wasn't.

Gezz Vintsy, taking things seriously these days. Have a glass and relax bud.

If your wonder what my tone is, I will help you out again.

It's pretty much like asking Connor McDavid to go back and play in the u20s after going a ppg in the NHL.

Again, as I said, if you agreed he was top 10, you needn't list anyone. The fact that you took the trouble to do so suggested you disagreed with Golfsey. I just thought you couldn't count.

Also, I'm pretty sure all the players you listed are forwards. There's got to be a D or two who are better hockey players than Matty, dropping him further down the list. He might not even be a top 20 player in the league...

Are you comparing Hoglander putting up 14 pts in the SHL to McDavid being a ppg player in the NHL?

Let's see him play in the AHL before we get too excited.
