Sorry, how are those two things different? One GM “out bid” everyone else while the other paid a “reasonable” price? Don’t you think both players had multiple suitors and they ended up moving to the team willing to pay the most? - 1970vintage

It was me. I’m sick of listening to the same old stuff there. The idea is good but the execution is poor.
Edit: I’ve posted there a few times and twice now it’s been deleted. Probably Tanner and his hurt feelings. Didn’t like the first comment coming in as “ This stove needs more burners” - Shuswap Wap

You must have missed the point that everything every other GM does is better than JB. |

JB hasn't been shy about overpaying during his tenure but I agree. Who doesn't kick the tires on Subban. It's folly to think there is a player of his calibre on the market and a GM has absolutely no interest. - golfingsince
I'm sure ever GM would have interest if it adds to their team or if they are looking for a change. |

If that’s what you think there is a serious problem. Your use of hyperbole is smashing though |

Adding a RHD that can shoot, skate, pass , make the odd big hit and plays 23+ minutes a night should interest anyone unless they're strapped for cap space.
I think he'll do well in NJ, especially on the PP with all that young talent. The problem is he makes $9M a year, so that's nearly as much as Myers and Miller combined. |

lol
Speaking of A New Hope did you see the re-done scene with ObiWan vs Vader done with modern effect and speeded up with much better choreography?
It's f'n outstanding.

I don't really have a best GM in the league. I'm not sure it's anything more than a yearly thing.
Most GMs shelf life is pretty short to be able to draft develop, create their own team and win multiple cups with them.
Armstrong right now.
Holland is new, CGY GM just traded for Lucic so no. Bergervin has some wins lately. Dubas, he's handed a fresh franchise. Chevy was but not anymore.
See at the end of the year? |

The next Brent Burns - manvanfan
Who was the best player he played with in Montreal? Patches? Markov?
In Nashville he often played 2nd pairing, still not an offensive powerhouse and one that relies on their D to create.
I'm just saying, he's going to see a pile of ice time playing with the best young talent he's been around. |

Burns has had a very good career well into his 30s.
NJ has been very lucky to add Hischier and Hughes.
He's got to stay healthy now. |

Top D are usually pretty good until they're 35 at least, as long as they're mobile enough. |

How many are still winning cups at that age though? Neidermayer? Lidstrom? |

Chara won at 34, has been back twice since. Chelios, Pronger made it with 3 different teams in his 30's, Bourque. That's just off the top of my head and still aside from Pronger (what a beast) the talent around them is a HUGE factor. |
