I hope that Podkolzin has a good year in the KHL this season.

I asked Milan Lucic if he was asked to waive his NTC in last year to go to the #Canucks : “No never. There was never a trade to Vancouver as far as I’m concerned.”

Doesn’t sound like Eriksson - Lucic swap ever got serious.

Don't destroy the narrative. Just like the Subban set of rumours.... if the Canucks were anywhere near interested, they would have outbid the Devils easily. People live in the media (where there is) smoke (there is fire). People who treat these rumours as white noise are Pom Pommers apparently.

Canucks were in on Subban. They weren't going to pay that asking price and weren't going to take on full salary.

Hilarious that some have viewed that trade as really good by the Devils because they out bid others and paid a higher price than others to get their player.

JB pays a reasonable price for Miller and its freak out over price.

I’m not sure who recommended Carol join the Hockeybuzz Hotstove, but after reading the blog I’m glad she hasn’t joined not the best of caliber bloggers there, Carol is the best on this site...period

I am okay with a larger management group if they are all on the same page.

I do wish Mike Gillis would take his sideshow on the road and try to sell what he is selling in Europe. He hasn't had any team show real interest in him in 5 or 6 years. I hate that he is trying to re-win the Vancouver fan base again.

I think taking advice from him is like someone trying to take investment advice from a snake oil salesman .

Say no to Greasy Mike Gillis

I liked listening to Burke rip into Gillis about a month ago for the Pavel Bure situation. Gillis was his agent and convinced Bure to sit out limiting the Canucks trade partners. Burke thinks other agents wouldnt have steered the situation in that direction. We dont know for sure but Gillis was so slimy. Was guilty of committing to more than one team for his client and then screwing the other one over... no surprise he threw everyone under the bus he could during and after his Canuck term. I've known people like him in my past... I (frank)ing hate them.

Mildly interested. If they were hot on him like media was saying.... they would have made a better offer. I agree about the salary. They were able to land Miller, Ferland and half of Benn for the Subban combined annual salary. I doubt the Canucks were seriously in on Subban ever if they had wanted to make other moves as well.

It's the first rounder trigger. Lotto pick scare of non-playoff team. Though condition of Miller trade allows them this year to work out the kinks and grow. If they don't make it they can improve on what they need the next season.

But if the Canucks don't improve enough to make the play-offs by next season the rebuild has failed.

It was me. I’m sick of listening to the same old stuff there. The idea is good but the execution is poor.
Edit: I’ve posted there a few times and twice now it’s been deleted. Probably Tanner and his hurt feelings. Didn’t like the first comment coming in as “ This stove needs more burners”

Carol writes for more than Hockeybuzz. If you want more of her content google her. It’s better than anything else you will find on this site.

Sakic turned him into quite a bit more than byram.

Yes, but I forgot the rest of the trade.

Maybe JB made an offer he thought was what the player was worth and didn't want to over pay.

Now with Trouba signed, does that mean the flawless rebuild Rangers are in a "Kap Krunch"......lets see the Special K gang defend that...

B.Smith 4.7X2

Thats one disgustingly overpaid D core + 0$ left to sign DeAngelo their top offensive Dman last year and Buchnevich, who's a top 6 winger. What an incredible rebuild!

There are only a few teams that really don't have enough space for their RFA's right now.

Toronto has 9 wish for Marner
Tampa Bay has 10.5 for Point
Tkachuk/Bennett pre Lucic 9.5 probably a little short there.
Connor/ Laine/ Pionk/ Copp 22 million plus 4 others needed to be signed.
Buchnevich/ Deangelo cap space zero
McAvoy/ Carlo 9 million

Not too many teams in trouble.

Sorry, how are those two things different? One GM “out bid” everyone else while the other paid a “reasonable” price? Don’t you think both players had multiple suitors and they ended up moving to the team willing to pay the most?

JB hasn't been shy about overpaying during his tenure but I agree. Who doesn't kick the tires on Subban. It's folly to think there is a player of his calibre on the market and a GM has absolutely no interest.
