At the moment I think Holtby is probably the best proven goalie in the division, although I think the division as a whole is a bit weak on goalies. I always thought Lundqvist was slightly overrated, even in his prime, but maybe it is just that the Pens were/are usually so good at burning him. Prior to this past FA start Bobrovsky was hands down the best in the division and is one of the best in the league.
Goalies are tough to evaluate because they depend so much on the defense in front of them. For example, it is easy to make the case for Brodeur being the best goalie of all time but at the same time, he also had one of the best defenses/systems in front of him for much of his career. At the same time, MAF is frequently criticized for his performance in the 2012 playoffs but he also had the most horrid defenses/systems in front of him that hung him out to dry constantly, forcing him to make many impossible saves, which eventually led to him losing his nerve. - PghPens668771
Don't forget 2013 as well for MAF. |

One per team rules or not, how on earth does Giroux not make it even as the reserve forward? Can someone explain?
Also, as a Flyers fan - we do like Ghost quite a bit. But he'd be the 3rd choice on Flyers D. And no Flyers D should be anywhere near this list (yet).
Seth Jones, Werenski, and Slavin all deserve to be over Dougie and PK.
But Giroux not being a reserve is pretty bad. |

He just had 2 of his best offensive seasons the past 2 years and played all 82 games in both of them. I think he'll finish with over 300G and 1000P. - jmatchett383
I think he'll break 100 GP for sure, but he still only had 22 goals last year and has only broken 30 once.
He may surprise and be one of those guys that plays forever though. Who knows. I think he falls off a cliff in the next couple years. |

Like I said, only needs to average 13 goals over the next 5 years. And he broke the 100 GP mark several years ago, assume you meant 1000 GP. |

Because if Giroux was in the reserve list that would be two players from the Flyers which is not allowed... it’s pretty simple actually, unless you’re referring to honorable mentions. |

Totally understand that. But as I mentioned Ghost is not deserving because there's much better options. So I mean reserves at very least.
Giroux over Atkinson and Barzal are no-brainers. |

A guys with 197 points last two seasons isn't even honorable mention so I cannot take this list seriously and shouldn't have wasted my time reasoning.

Provorov and Sanheim - on same team. And Werenski is better than both. |

Still superior to someone like Atkinson, who is definitely very good. Just funny.

They always burned Hank bc the rest of the team was average talent. We had 0 elite players. If they actually built some skill around him they would have won a cup. Sad.

I'd like a better argument than that - what is he lacking as a player in your opinion? Not being a homer at all, looking at every stat I can. I'd put him as first reserve on this list. And statistically it isn't even close with the 'honorable mention' forwards. |
