tavares wanted to come to toronto, it was so much a slam dunk that rosie o'donnell could have been leafs gm at the time and it would not have mattered.
- Bob_Zuruncle

According to everyone, the favourites were the Islanders to keep him. Read this:

Tavares only decided on the Leafs the night before July 1st.

how old are you? and how long have you been watching hockey?
- Bob_Zuruncle

How old are you? Everyone who has this idea that Tavares had planned to go back to Toronto all along seems to have no idea what growing up is.

Just about every 18 year old kid wants to stay at home. That's where their friends and family are. That's where everything they know is. That's human nature. No one likes to leave the nest - unless the nest is something like Patrick O'Sullivan's, but most nests in hockey families and hockey communities are supportive.

Once you get out there, and start to mature and grow and be on your own and self-sustaining, you can appreciate being away from home. It's slightly different because he went from a small town to a bigger town, but Lupul talked about how frustrating it was to be traded to Edmonton - because he didn't want to go back home after being out on his own.

I think any FA when they're 25/26 are now well-to-do young men, who have established roots in a community, and it's a hard decision to leave that behind, because the roots you start to lay as an adult - especially if you have kids - can be stronger.

He was going to resign with NYI all along, until he was sold on Toronto. I give full credit to the Leafs Management team.

You can pretend it was a con job, but the truth is right in front of you and it's so much easier to accept and swallow.

leafs ownership wanted tavares, tavares wanted toronto. leafs offered tavares 11 million per for 7 years, he signed. he praised the young gm upon signing with toronto beacause the organization just handed him 77 million and they're trying to build a winner and tavares putting the good word out for the rest of the players in the league who could potentially one day play for the leafs and help the team become champions.
- Bob_Zuruncle

But 77 million was the least amount of $ any team offered him.

i'm not gonna read bs propaganda put out by the organizations that own both the team and all the media that covers them. there is a conflict of interest there and they can shape a story however they want now more than ever.

If MLSE controlled the media, please explain the year of Marner offersheet talk and him leaving? Every freaking day we are told during the past year every Leaf RFA is desperate to sign any offersheet and will leave.

And TSN doesn't really own the Leafs FYI.

if you're saying other teams offered more you're proving my point. the leafs were clearly in the ballpark and he came where he dreamed of being.

That’s because the Zionists at Area 51 are working with the crab people to undermine the legitimacy of a real insight into the comet pizza conspiracy which is being funded by both Bell and Rogers.

But how come everyone said he wasn't coming to the Leafs? How come everyone raved about Dubas' presentation he put together? How come he was still talking to the Islanders the night before he joined the Leafs?

Most fat guys don’t work as hard as him on the stationary bike. Your argument is flawed.
